Sandalwood by Art of Shaving

It's a nice fragrance; only the pine and eucalyptus notes overpower the sandalwood heart. It is very potent in the oppening phase, but settles after the first hour or so. This is a good sandalwood-themed fragrance that deserves to be tested and, eventually, liked.

Fever pour Homme by Céline

I'm wearing (fully) for the second time Celine Fever pour Homme. Since I wore this for the first time last week I've been sniffing repeatedly the back of my hand trying to reveal to myself this intriguing aroma. Now I think I did: First, the opening is very spicy and aromatic, kind of sharp but settles down quickly; just a tad of citrus as well on it. The middle notes are balsamic with a very prominent and warm frankincense note that lingers with interesting power. The drydown uncovers a light woody aroma, maybe a blend of sandalwood and cedar but the frankincense note is still there and will remain there almost until the end. The very last vestiges of this fragrance on my skin, after 8 or 10 hours, are very soft and clean with traces of musky vetiver. I much suspect that the intended theme for this scent was the frankincense accord.

To my nose, in the overall, this fragrance is subtle, warm, with a clean edge to it. It could have a more interesting heart in my opinion, and a little bit more projection, though. I feel this can be worn easily to work. I received a compliment this morning when getting on the elevator.

Ungaro III by Ungaro

Ungaro III is a great fragrance. It was my signature scent about 6 or 7 years ago. It was not until last year when I re-discovered it and started wearing this again, from time to time. For me, the sandalwood note is very prominent, mixed with a peper note that creates a beautiful accord. There is also geranium and rose that adds a subtle floral nuance. Yes, there is definitely a tender, and sometimes elusive rose note on it; although I wouldn't consider Ungaro III a rose-manly fragrance.

The drydown is one of my favourites: persistent, sandalwoody-musky.

Yatagan by Caron

After reading all those contradictory reviews, I had been waiting the opportunity to try it. Well, last week I finally did, and 20 minutes later I purchased the bottle. I really liked it. I found it very intrigued and classy. Absolutely masculine notes: pine, patchouly, vetiver, and leather; great longevity, wonderful sillage as well. Yatagan has a sound personality and It doesn't evolve much after the initial application. This one could easily fit the description of a "signature scent" in my dictionary.

In my opininon, it is not as strong and in-your-face as some people argue. I love this one and now it retains a favoured place in my wardrobe.

Eau de Santal by Floris

Santal is a very pleasant scent, fresh and woody. The lavender and the citrus notes dominate the opening whereas a light and ephemeral grass-leaves accord develops surrounded by an aura of light woods that takes the scene very promptly (10 minutes or so) and remains there for something tike 5 hours or so. It's a nice scent though I don't detect any sandalwood on it. Could be cedar, cypress or the like.

Sandalwood by Floris

Sandalwood is a very refined and subtle sandalwood scent much in the line of Diptyque Tam Dao. I find it very wearable and at the same time warm and fresh (sic)... It is not sharp or edgy; it feels kind of "beveled" under the action of the other ingredients, specially the amber and the jasmine. Very good longevity.

Sandalo by Lorenzo Villoresi

Well, I finally received my Lorenzo Villoresi Sandalo today and have been wearing it all day. Great "raw" sandalwood, very dry and resinous. You can smell a quality and talented craftmanship here.
Longevity is quite good, I would say (around 6 hours). It has little evolution from the moment you spritz it to the end of its cycle; Little but perceptible.

Santal by Fragonard

A great and original sandalwood. It took me about three wearings to get to love it. Althought I would have wanted that the sandalwood were more prominent here.
I would describe it as a waned sandalwood lying over a rich blend of amber/tobacco. Súper long lasting.
