Falling In Love by Philosophy

Recently bought this on a whim at Sephora. Nice, light, casual floral. On me, it has a top note that's close to cotton candy -- it would be cloying if it were any heavier or if it had much longevity, but since it's such a light fragrance it works.

Blu Notte by Bulgari

Fantastic, rich fragrance with a subtle spicy kick from the ginger that crystallizes into the hint of cocoa and a full-bodied iris note. I'm crazy about it (and so's my boyfriend!). Definitely my current favorite -- my only quibble is that I wish it had a little more longevity.

Fleurs de Chocolat Lucia by Fresh

The intense initial impression of chocolate and orange is delicious, but simultaneously runs the risk of being overpowering or cloying -- like you've just walked out of a candy factory. But then it dries down into a warmer, creamy, gingery tone, with the chocolate still faintly present but not so aggressive or sweet. Good fall/winter scent; going into the summer, I'll probably reserve it for only occasional evening use for now.

Oscar by Oscar de la Renta

Got this as a gift and it never quite took off for me -- the powder and pepper notes always seem to combine to make me want to sneeze for the first few hours its on. Not bad, just not very inspiring.

Spellbound by Estée Lauder

Love the spicy, sultry undertones to this. Very potent, though - a little does go a long way, and it definitely takes the right chemistry, style, season, and time of day to wear it. A great scent, but certainly not one that can be worn every day.

L'Heure Bleue by Guerlain

I must not have the chemistry for this -- it never comes off as very complex on me, just a long sustained carnation note that eventually dries down into powdery vanilla. Nice, but not remarkable.

Eternity by Calvin Klein

Got this for Xmas one year back in college (early '90s) and wore it throughout my 20s -- the sage took on almost a creamy note with my chemistry. I retired it for several years (it just seemed *too* '90s to me) but started wearing it again once in awhile recently -- it comes off a little more musky/heav now than it used to. Still, occasionally nice, but it won't ever be my daytime scent again.

Calyx by Prescriptives

I remember first using this back in the early '90s as a working girl at Macy's, and the notes that always stayed with me were the bergamot, spearmint, and moss. Got it again last year and, like others, feel pretty much like a walking grapefruit when I wear it now. Not great staying power, either, unless I really spritz on a lot at first, in which case it eventually dries down into a nice mellow scent.
