Parfum Royale No. 2 by Roja Dove

Roja Dove Parfum Royale #2 was released in 2016 and sold exclusively by the Roja Dove Haute Parfumery at Harrod’s in London, England. The Parfum Royale range consisted of a total of 5 fragrances that were released between 2016 and 2017. Each reference was a limited edition: 50 bottles of 75ml parfum/ extrait strength fragrance. The range was discontinued in early 2018 when all bottles of Parfum Royale were sold out.

Parfum Royale #2 has a fresh and heady (but not sharp) bergamot/ lemony opening of the finest quality. Florals, mainly rose, jasmine, yllang yllang are soon hovering nicely and a mild level of spice is revealed including woods (cedar). A fine suede leather accompanied by a light and pleasant patchouli make their quiet presence known along with oakmoss and musk. Before long it becomes evident that this unisex oriental-floral fragrance is moderately soft, reserved and personal. Whiffs of all of the mentioned elements except the opening citrus waft about and linger on to enjoy for a good 5 hours with various notes peeking out here and there. Like many of Roja’s fragrances, Parfum Royal #2 is complex, balanced and extremely well blended. For example, coconut, blackcurrant and clove are listed as notes but I’m not able to detect them—they are part of the supporting cast here. Parfum Royal #2 is a personal fragrance because it has lower intensity sillage, meaning someone would probably have to come into your personal space to smell you. Nevertheless, Parfum Royale #2 is a sublime perfume experience, a fragrance that is decidedly reserved yet substantial. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
