John Varvatos by John Varvatos

I adore this scent. It has a strong cedar smell, which I love. It does have its sweet side, but the wood of the fragrance mixes nicely with it giving it a clean, lively presence that can easily be worn day or night. I have received several compliments on this one and it quickly has climbed into perhaps the favorite scent I own.

Burberry London for Men by Burberry

I received a bottle of this as a gift and I couldn't be happier. London certainly has a sweet side to it, which isn't normally a plus for me, but it is balanced by a spicy, sophisticated edge that wears wonderfully in the colder months, but could easily be worn in almost any situation.

Vetiver by Guerlain

This was a blind buy for me, and an unfortunate one. While I can certainly detect many of the classic elements which have made this such a popular selection, this fragrance was overwhelmingly strong and smelled too much of soap to my tastes. A couple of my office workers commented that I smelled "old". This certainly isn't for everyone, though I understand where the attraction would lie for the properly inclined.

Mark Birley for Men by Mark Birley

I picked up a sample of this from Luckyscent given the reviews there. In the bottle, it had an interesting, fresh and sophisticated smell. When I put it on, it turned into lemon pledge and faded within an hour. I'm certain it's an issue with my body chemistry, but I had no luck at all with this scent.
