Safari for Men by Ralph Lauren
Cheap. Not wretched, but very predictable and unrefined. For lower class folks aspiring to bridge the gap and have some of the "good stuff." Move over Tommy, you got some competition.

Polo by Ralph Lauren
The 80s may be back, but some things about the 80s are not back--like anything that actually existed in the 80s. Did you grow up in the 80s? You're not still wearing skin tight Levis, I hope ... so you better not be wearing this, old man. And if you're in you mid-30s, boasting about "getting all the hot chicks back in high school unlike those grody hoods" isn't very impressive. 'Nuff said.

D&G Masculine by Dolce & Gabbana
LEMON LEMON LEMON LEMON ... crossed with lemon. Did I mention lemon? Honestly, it smells like Pledge (a furniture polish for those outside the States), and I may one day get beaten up for wearing it, but I love it! If you are homophobic or allergic to lemons, stay far, far away from this. Otherwise, buy it.

Eau d'Orange Verte by Hermès
Hermes produces most of my favorites, except I hate Rocabar...this is decent in and of itself, but fails to achieve the originality and sophistication for which I admire Hermes fragrances. If I had it, I'd use it, but I wouldn't buy it.

Eau d'Hermès by Hermès
The beginning of the great Hermes legacy--unexpected, brilliant, daring fragrances. To help, my favorite producers are Hermes, Dior, and Chanel. Contrary to another poster's assertion, this is, if anything, too masculine for a unisex fragrance. Hints of tobacco, leather, spice--it's very seductive and rich. But, then, these are balanced by soft, hot feminine sensations. The result is an exemplary unisex fragrance. Unlike the cheap "club" unisex gimmicks we see today (i.e. CK One, et al), which are boring and nondescript, suitable for neither sex, Hermes has masterfully concocted a scent that integrates a myriad of nuances.

Rocabar by Hermès
OUCH! To preface, most of my favorites are Hermes (I also like Dior and Chanel in general). This, however, is just too potent and unfocussed. Most Hermes scents are unexpected because of their originality and successful because they cleverly fulfill a mission. But this is just raucous! In grade school a group of friends visited a department store. One, to annoy us, "tested" all of the colognes at once ... Rocabar revives that memory.

Bel Ami by Hermès
This is my favorite scent, period. Love at first sniff! To help, I generally enjoy unique scents, and I principally favor Hermes, Dior, and Chanel offerings. This bold fragrance reminds me of frankincense, and, as such, deserves to be venrated on the high altar of fragrance. It also has a very Eastern feel. Not for the office or clubs--too sultry; too daring.

Équipage by Hermès
At the top of my short list of favorites! To I generally enjoy unique scents, and I principally favor Hermes, Dior, and Chanel offerings. This is one of the most unique scents available. It has a formal, sophisticated appeal with a bold spicy anise ring. Li'l boys may complain that it's to "old," but I (a 33 y.o.) believe refined, sophisticated, and mature are more descript. This goes faster than every other cologne I own.
