Oxygène by Lanvin

*Loved* this stuff when it first came out, but haven't worn it for awhile. Picked up a bottle recently and I find it smells different to me.and I don't think I like it as much. Still nice, just not as nice as I remembered -- I recalled a pale blue/clean/watery scent, but to my (now older) nose it smells deeper, less fresh. Wonder if it has been changed or reformulated or is it me & my aging sense of smell? LOL Bottle is still beautiful, sleek and simple. I will use it, but probably won't buy it again.

Aqua Allegoria Mentafollia by Guerlain

Love it -- purchased it at Marshall's on a whim, for very little $$, and it may be the best thing I've bought all year! Starts out Scopey/mouthwashy, but very quickly evolves into something more complex and subtle and very wonderful. Other notes start emerging pretty quickly -- something floral and maybe something citrussy? I will buy this again, and will try the other Guerlain Aquas on the strength of this one.

24, Faubourg by Hermès

Didn't care for it; very strong and immediately turns ultra-soapy on me.

Tam Dao by Diptyque

Lightest, smoothest sandalwood I have ever smelled; invokes a great sense of tranquility from the moment it goes on. The only downside is that lasting power isn't so great, but it smells so good I don't care. I'm shopping for a full bottle as we speak.

Tea for Two by L'Artisan Parfumeur

Amazing and wonderful; dark, sweet and smoky and just like Lapsang Souchong (as so many other reviewers have said!) An interesting scent that makes you think, if that makes any sense. Definitely full-bottle-worthy!

Ambre Extrême by L'Artisan Parfumeur

Ergh. I love amber and received a small decant of this, expecting to like if not love it. Surprise! in actuality I can't stand it. The sweet smooth amber scent is lovely, but it's accompanied by this weird greasy undertone that is actually kind of nauseating. The closest thing I can compare the freaky undertone to is -- maybe a deep-fried sweet, like a day-old donut or something, that has sat in its own fry grease too long and has become super-saturated in oil. Maybe to some folks this is a positive thing (LOL) but for me it is an absolute scrubber.

Blu Notte by Bulgari

Stunning stuff! Really rich and sophisticated and smells like nothing else out there. I don't get the ginger note -- on me it starts with a bittersweet chocolate note and evolves into very expensive chilled vodka (yum!) plus a hint of some kind of very deep subtle floral (maybe this is the iris?) Smooth, dark, deep, warm and cold at the same time, soft but with a sharp edge somewhere, if that makes any sense. New personal favorite.
