Lily Prune Exotic Wood by Lily Prune
Not my style, but a nice clean spicy soap smell- not floral soapy, more like creamy, fresh w/ lil spice in background. Would work nicely on either sex. I was hoping for dark, resinous, rich.. so this goes to the swap stash!

Floret by Antonia¹s Flowers
scrubber! weird beer smell(sour alcohol), I thought it was "off" at first but then the sweetsie floral w/ bright apricot came thru, still w/ that sourness, blech.

Amethyst Fatale by Oriflame
Purple-smelling boudoir scent.. soft but deep, l'heure purple. Verrry similar composition to me, but not as heavy & somber as LHB can be, a touch different flavor.. I like this much better. More mellow than most iris/rose combo's out there, not so bright. In flavor it reminds me of Anna Sui, but not as sweet. Richer & smoother w/ the nice amber. I like its mix of classic romantic feel w/ a little modern feel. Nice sillage too.

Stella by Stella McCartney
The rose in this is well-done, similar to Lancome's Mille et Une. MeU faded too fast to soft spice & hardly any rose, Stella stays rosy but this composition seems too cold in feel... like modern metal chairs or a funky metal sculpture.. shiny, angular & not inviting, at least to me. I'm more a dark library w big upholstered chairs & softly gleaming wood kinda gal. Tried 3x but couldn't get comfortable.

Rosa Flamenca by Les Parfums de Rosine
oo I love this one! warm, rich & sunny blend of orange blossom & rose. not too sweet or high pitched, it's well-rounded & full in flavor, yes a little more sheer than I like.. but it's so lovely & comforting a smell to me so I just spritz a lil more often!

Daliflor by Salvador Dali
To me it was like a very watered-down version of Rosa Flamenca, seemed to be a sheer & watery rose/orange blossom blend. sweet, pink & light.. not me!

FUBU Plush for Women by FUBU
fresh, light, sweetsie gourmand.. I think I smell lime, sandalwood & caramel. I find it too girly & boring.

Poussière de Rose by Les Parfums de Rosine
Beautiful! It's luscious, soft red, warm, rich & cozy. The apricot smells peachy to me & goes great w/rose. I love the balance this has between light/happy & dark/sultry. Very womanly. I'd feel fine wearing this any season.

Paestum Rose by Eau d'Italie
1st try- Soft, dry incense, lots of rose! Nice cool scent for summer nights? 2nd try- Wore to club, dry incensy green chypre w/ intense rose. wow. Make that Intense Rose w/ incensy chypre background. A real standout. Still smell on skin in am. Good for daytime or hot night, not a "warm" scent.
In a masculine looking bottle that protects it from the light.

Deep Night by Ghost
I love this unique scent! Deep but cool & smooth woody vanilla w/ touch of apricot & peach, the flowers in the background add a little creaminess.. really nice on summer nights.
The shower gel is a little masculine, the woods are more prominent.

L'Heure Magique by Laura Mercier
Not very powdery on me, and doesn't morph more than first settling, but it's complex & yummy.. I like the flavor alot- similar to Venezia & Tuscany per Donna, lighter & less sweet, an anytime scent, smells Italian, cheerful & sensual. Embracing your feminine soft side when wearing this!

No. 18 by Chanel
Opens.. eau d'green olive? sheer & warm green, softens some.. pink rosebuds appear faintly.. still mostly pale green. Makes me picture a little girl on one of those Victorian postcards, and this would be nice on a young lady.
Thumbs down on me tho!

Dans la Nuit by Worth
(vintage edt) Smells soft, woody & blue, different & delicious. I think I smell rose, violet, & jasmin w/ aldehydes, orris, sandalwood, & touch of musk. Develops nicely. Fuzzy aldehydes & wood opening, fades off to show beautiful & delicate florals.. they have a little sweetness, but the base has a dark coolness that tempers it. A modern scent that approaches it is Jaipur Saphir.. in feel but not end result! That one got a little hi-pitched and soapy to me. I like this much better! There's something about it..

Eau Lente by Diptyque
1st try (applied normal) ALL spice.. nutmeg, clove, a bit pungent! Smelled too masculine.
2nd try (applied lightly!) Yum! dry & peaceful spicy, with touch of soft sweetness in background.

Warm, smokey & spicy jasmine, sensual & mysterious. Nice for evenings or cold weather. Love it!

Rose D'ete by Les Parfums de Rosine
Fresh & light natural rose smell, smooth with a touch of fruit, but much lighter than I like, too sheer on me.

Ce Soir Ou Jamais by Annick Goutal
One of my favorite roses. Smells like real red rose petals, lush & natural. Gets a little smoother & sweeter on drydown, retains lush red rosiness! I love that it isn't candy flavored or too bright & sharp.

La Rose de Rosine by Les Parfums de Rosine
1st try ver close to R Ess, less powder & brightness.. but seems fleeting
2nd try a little too bright & sweet, does fade fast so I prefer Rose Essentielle.

Une Foile de Roses by Les Parfums de Rosine
1st try wow! smells lovely like the red/yellow roses at work. gets the sour chypre twang later on but still nice
2nd try keeps being too sharp & twangy on me

Truly Pink by Vera Wang
1st try Pink roses! soft w/wood & violet, doesn't fade immediately, has a smoky edge to it, from the musk? fresh & light, but not overly bright 2nd try Not me. Too flat & pink, not rich or juicy or interesting enough.

Liù by Guerlain
Deep yummy resinous vanilla w/ soft aldehydes, a smidgen of dried fruit, not too sweet. Very sultry.

All aldehydic & vague sweet floral, too much like baby powder, & too vague.

Mûre et Musc by L'Artisan Parfumeur
dry and not sweet blackberry all alone with musk. eh.
I might like to smell it on a guy!

Jour de Fête by L'Artisan Parfumeur
I like it but it it's a little too doughy, a little smoke or wood would make it a keeper for me, since the almond & vanilla are real nice in this one.

Tiempe Passate by Antonia¹s Flowers
Lively & fresh, smells like cedar leaves w/ sharpness of bergamot.. a nice & natural clean smell for a room, not me. Softens a bit on drydown, but still very bright & fresh.

Muschio Bianco / White Moss by Acca Kappa
I smell like air! nice fresh air like when I'm hiking, novel to me but no reason for me to wear it. I like more scent to my scents! to each her own

Fleeting Moment / Fuite des Heures by Balenciaga
powdery chypre- less green w/a little more spice & pungent than Tigress(which I favor), a bit of sweetness & dried fruit like Habanita, more green than H. Seems right in the middle of those two in flavor. Nice layers, good sillage. not sure of the exact notes, sorry!

Diva by Ungaro
I got a smpl of this from a lovely swapper who knew I was into roses.. So glad! bc I would have never checked it out o/w. (um, the name, and that no one mentions it!) I've been looking for a wearable rosy chypre that's nice for day, and this is just right! Its notes are soft & muted but definitely there.. not so overblended that you can't pick anything out. The iris adds a tiny touch of powder that goes great w/ the oakmoss & wood. there's a smidgen of spice.. but this is different from all those incensy roses I have, definitely more like a classic chypre, but w/o a lot of twang & musk. Super mix of elegance & earthiness.. LOVE!!

L'Arte di Gucci by Gucci
A rich red rose, a lil sweet & spicy but not that heavy vanilla sweet, not powdery, almost like Ce Soir Ou Jamais in the redness & clearness, but more womanly from touch of tuberose (not my fave note but works great here) & spice, dark wood base but rose doesn't disappear. LOVE IT! ok for day if applied lightly, o/w definite evening scent. I think I even like it better than Or Et Noir.

Angel Garden Of Stars - Rose Angel by Thierry Mugler
I don't wear Angel but I love roses & violets so I had to try these. I put Rose on one wrist & Violet on the other.. Rose was a jumble of smells, not meshing well! it smelled funky & fake. Violet started off great, thought it was a keeper with its deep purple & soft choc...after they melted in tho everything changed! Now Rose was lucious & yummy, a perfect balnce of sweet, fresh rose & choc, nice & smooth; and Violet was the stinky jumble! Rose is a keeper, but one I have to be patient with.

Mystère by Rochas
Unique, deep dark oriental, also seems like chypre. Spicy oomph at first, exotic & not too sweet. Tames down, a little.. dries to a cobalt blue silkiness, with rich dark wood underneath. pretty good sillage & duration. Drydown reminds me of Knowing- cool dark woods & flowers w/soft musk. But this has alot more pizazz! 2nd try- Full moon clear sky kind of feel.. not so soft & cozy, more moody. I love this but just for once in a while.
02 December 2007
Rose by Caron
(edp) a warm & dusky, rich rose.. w/ great blend of geranium, iris & vanilla(all subtle) that makes it slightly spicy, sweet & powdery. doesn't lose the rose note. glamorous & cozy at the same time. Love! I agree that it dries down very similar to Or et Noir.

Bayou by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
Smashing! Has a southern goth feel to the opening, after that the tropical white flowers add a little lushness & warmth.. they blend in & fade a bit into the dydown. I love the balance the drydown has of deep dark green/wood with a delicate vein of powdery floral. It's beautiful and unique, and it's what I was hoping for in scents I've tried like Passage d'Enfer, Heure Exquise, L'Heure Bleu.. it's soothing & peaceful but with depth & substance.

Velvet Tuberose by Bath and Body Works
This is a soft but rich white floral, mellow but festive too. It's not loud & pushy like most tuberoses I know, instead it's delicious & inviting. the base has a milder version of the tropical wood I smell in Black Orchid, and some creamy gardenia shows up in the drydown.. but it's warmed & lightly spiced for cold weather. All unusual, all good! Not too sugary sweet either. I prefer the edp, it retains the lushness longer, the edt seems a lil woody & thin in comparison.

Chamade by Guerlain
LOVE this one! The black currant is so nice, (I like that part so I layer w/ a little Devotee by Avon) and the base is smashing! elegant, cool, woody w/ a touch of green. It has a Renaissance feel to it. It is a bit powdery tho so if you don't care for that you may not like it. The Devotee helps in that department too! My layered wrist has more currant/ less powder, my Chamade-only wrist has more musk/ more powder.

White Jeans by Versace
Opens a little heavy & sweet w/ mostly tuberose, softens & has nice incense background, but still more tuberose than I like. Gives a pungent sweetness to the flavor.. It dries further to plain vanilla w/tinge of tuberose & incense, still not for me.
23 July 2007
Casmir by Chopard
Has the depth, warmth & spiciness I like, but something clashes in the drydown, not comfortable. maybe the geranium?
22 July 2007
Mediterranean by Elizabeth Arden
Fruity, mostly peach opening; becomes cool & fresh, slightly creamy, mild floral (wisteria & magnolia seem mild to me, compared to my faves rose, violet or gardenia). The sandal & musk are there but unobtrusive. I didn't notice the sharpness mentioned by other reviewers. Nicely done, just too low key for me.
22 July 2007
Délices de Cartier by Cartier
A little heavy on the bourbon note, but that probably helps it be the womanly cherry scent it is. Dries to a soft, thick bourbon vanilla w/ tinge of cherry cordial, occasional syrupy sweetness. It's not for me tho, I'm a redhead who's more comfy in woody rose or violet perfumes, or amber/spicy. I bet this would be smashing on the right person!
22 July 2007
Alien by Thierry Mugler
1st try hmm, not bad. Smells like grape soda at first, mellos into soft, woody white floral with a slight grape soda edginess to keep it from being one of those heady voluptuous squeeze you too tight floral clouds. I think I love it! I agree it's more cool than warm, but it's still very feminine.
21 July 2007
Cinnabar by Estée Lauder
Didn't like at first. Dry cinnamon incense(like head shop), (oops put on heavy) washed it off right after. Still there! Then I liked it. Sweet but not foody, wow, long lasting, more of a mello spicy after opening. So now I love it, sprayed very lightly.

Nuit de Noël by Caron
A Star of the woody/incense genre. Not as dry as some. Musky but light, smells edible rosey & woody. Great comfy w/edge one!

Cabaret by Grès
1st try I hated this, now it's a favorite!! Try a couple times before deciding.
So far the best woody rose scent I've found. Sunny, clear, sandalwood & rose, awesome. totally fits me.

Bulgari pour Femme by Bulgari
Tried in the winter 1st, was nice but so faint! 2nd try warm day, applied liberally, much nicer! sexy feminine mix of violet & jasmine, sweet sultry one for night, no developing needed. not soapy. definite keeper.
16 July 2007
Amarige Mariage by Givenchy
This is pleasant enough.. reminds me of Dune's drydown, sweet & vanilla w/ slight wood base, unimpressive is a good description tho. Won't miss it.

Dior Addict by Christian Dior
Very sensual & smoky, but something smells synthetic to me.. maybe that's the night queen flower? (a cactus bloom) So it fits, but it's not my color, or something like that!

Violette Précieuse by Caron
At first I applied too lightly (those Carons can be potent!)- was soapy powder soliflore. Reapplied- now I can smell the green, wood & darkness, slightly musty, powdery, fades out 3-5 hrs. A little plain to me compared with Aimez Moi, a rich & ambery violet.
25 June 2007
Madness by Chopard
On me this was harsh, bitter & dry raspberry & spice.. gave it time but it stayed stinky. If you want something similar but softer, try Hermes Rouge.. spicy smoky & dry oriental, red & rosey.
25 June 2007
Bright Crystal by Versace
Refreshing, light & floral fruity, sheer & pink, nothing of interest coming thru, very youthful & innocent peony scent. Nice if you like that kind of thing.
25 June 2007
Crystal Noir by Versace
A lovely dark rendition of gardenia, creamy & a bit of green, not too heavy & sweet like they can be.. Definitely sensuous & tropical, clear but rich like syrup. Like a warm clear night in the tropics, full moon & light breeze.
24 June 2007
Givenchy III by Givenchy
A nice green chypre, a little spicy & bright green, more clear than rich. Lasts well. More pizazz than Chanel 19, but when I'm in this mood I'll wear the soft grassy green of Vetiver or the rich darker green of Gucci 3.
24 June 2007
Halston Couture by Halston
Great vintage style chypre, w/rose flavor. 1st try- Light, dusty & soft, rose-tinged floral chypre, a little violet too. 2nd try- too musty & dry, not appealing even tho rose. 3rd try on hot day was elegant dry powdery, rose and a little sweet.

Byzance by Rochas
Loved it over 10 years ago, then it seemed too sweet. Now I try and love again! sim to Boucheron but less loud, mello wood helps it. fits well. My choice for big powdery Amber/vanilla scent.
21 May 2007
Boucheron by Boucheron
1st try opening was great- really nice powdery orange floral Classy, comfy, fancy all at once. soft & feminine, a little sweet. potent sillage. Still has nice flavor later on. 2nd try too stinky sweet for me, felt annoying instead of confidant, & the orange I liked went away. I decided I like Byzance better for big powdery Amber/vainlla scent.
21 May 2007
Brit Red by Burberry
Peppery at first, very nice a little later, warm & sweet but light. a little powdery, definitely "red" 2nd try smelled spicy oranges, warm & yummy. 3rd try, good sillage & lasting. has smokey undercurrent, cloved sweet oranges.
21 May 2007
Violette by Norma Kamali
I like the presence it has! just put on few minutes ago, doesn't smell so innocent to me. a little later, softer w/ a teeny powder.. hmm, I want to bathe in it! would work for day or night, special or not. Opens clear, distinct violet, dries still definitely violet, softer but still clear, nice coolness.
20 May 2007
Gem by Van Cleef & Arpels
Warm, rich fruit & spice, smooth & sensual at first, but goes funky. something pungent or too sweet about it that recedes after a few sniffs, but always there when you catch a new whiff of it. Similar to Alchimie, which is lovely all thru.

Miss Dior by Christian Dior
The malls near me don't have this one available to test, but I found a mini at the perfume store. I had to buy unsniffed, but HEY!! It's just perfect. I've been searching for an everyday scent that features gardenia.. most have tuberose which makes them smell heavy & serious, or much too sweet (and gives my buddies headaches). Marc Jacobs is pretty good, reminds me of living in Florida when I'd put a fresh gardenia in a little bowl of water- lovely! (tuberose smells like when they were not so fresh!) But MJ is a bit crisp, w/o much depth or staying power. Chanel's gardenia is very pale, and MJ Essence is a bit warm & boring. Miss Dior has all the elements I was looking for!! I love the mix, and the feel it gives, so well described in the previous reviews. I don't like too sweet & powdery scents, but when there's green w/ white flowers, a bit of powder & interesting earthy base keep it from smelling like Eau de Shower.
03 May 2007
Tabac Blond by Caron
1st try, Nice warm leather & incense, the smokiness is cool, not sure if fave yet. confidant sexy feel tho. 2nd try, Love it! Vol de Nuit was a bit soft & boring, this is soft and Wow! It opens sultry & smoky, warm & ambery, smoke softens and woods come thru along with a touch of sweetness. Interesting & confidant. Not too heavy, would be fine for casual wear (applied lightly). It's not blatantly sexy.. but the sexiness it hints at is va-va-rowr.
13 April 2007
Moods by Krizia
Nice woody, airy, soapy opening. No flower or sexiness to enhance mood, has a neutral feel. I like the faint pine smell, but still equals soap/ freshly showered smell. I prefer Guerlain Vetiver for a soft green scent.
13 April 2007
Catalyst by Halston
oo I like it! It's in between the super potent & hard to wear Narcisse Noir, and the oh so sweet vavoom ones like Boucheron. I like both of those, but not for everyday wear. Opening clear orangey sandalwood, heart is yummy complex but so smooth chypre, comfy.. not overly sweet or girly, base is a little softer. Not too overpowering sillage. All the notes get to play in this beautiful blend, and I like how the orangey smell keeps peeking out. What does Jonquil smell like?! It comes in a nice swirly blossom bottle, easy on the wallet too.
09 April 2007
Bois de Paradis by Delrae
Nice wood one! Blackberry & rich woods, has depth, just enough sweetness & sillage. Would good in the summer, for a stray away from my real faves (violet, rose, or gardenia).
05 April 2007
Nilang by Lalique
Similar to Dune in type (unique outdoorsy floral, not too fruity, too sweet, or too spicy), but easier on the nose & feels happier, slight warmth but fresh for hot days, sensual too. drydown nice floral too, good sillage.
05 April 2007
Beautiful by Estée Lauder
Not beautiful, or even pretty. I like strong & dynamic scents too, but this one seems clumsy, falls flat & knocks you over.
05 April 2007
Jolie Madame by Pierre Balmain
wow, I think I love this! Dark, green, violet, not too sharp but not too sweet & heavy, more clear than powdery. Not "perfumy" or obnoxious either. It has an adventurous, mysterious mood, and it's more feminine & beautiful than alot of the chypres I've tried. A great mix! I love it alone & want to try it layered with Meteorites, violets, gardenias.. (on separate days!) It would be the perfect darkness/ richness to add.
28 March 2007
Narcisse Noir by Caron
Pungent opening, then could be nice powdery warm orange, but has persistant bitter medicinal note. (dried orange peels) 2 hrs later still too bitter. In love with other Carons so tried again.. light application better, but just don't like the feel- cold & cynical, more sharp than sweet.
07 March 2007
En Avion by Caron
Yummy. Powdery, orange blossom, mild leather & clove opening.. moss & violet shine when clove fades, still nice mix of moss, rose, & powdery Caron base at end. Not bad lasting power. It seems classy, intriguing and earthy; very nice.
