    Green Irish Tweed by Creed

I'm pleased that others have noticed the backnote (if that is the right word!) in this Silver Mountain Water and Creed Vetiver. It is chemical and eventually dominates all the good stuff in them. I've smelled it in Santal too. I don't know what it is but I dont like it.

L'Eau D'Issey pour Homme by Issey Miyake

When this first came out it was very unusual. It is now ubiquitous and the principal note that made it so different has been discovered by Axe/Lynx. THey are not as well done but you smell them a lot and this devalues this frag for me. But it has to be a thumbs up for being first

I always mourn the the loss of a unique whiff, if only for those who liked it. This was definitely a refined taste, powerful, sweet and spicy. Not my thing but different.

    Dunhill Pure by Alfred Dunhill

A nice clean just laundered smell with a hint of aquatics but longevity isnt up to much and others have done it so much better
If only Dunhill had stuck with Blend 33, Original, Edition and X centric.

another "me too" has that faintly smoky, mineralic whiff that pops up in everything Boss and Axe do as well as cheap deodorants worldwide. Definitely try before you buy but not for me.

Bulgari Aqua pour Homme by Bulgari

There are just so many "aquas" out there This is as good as any and cheaper than most, but doesn't stand out for me. It gets a thumbs up for the price

Paco Rabanne pour Homme by Paco Rabanne

Fantastically powerful and long lasting so apply with caution or no-one will be able to get near you! But still an absolute classic that has stood the test of time. If you search ebay it is remarkable how few used bottles are on offer compared to other famous fragrances.

    Imperial Leather by Cussons

Much scratching around finally produced a aftershave bottle and talcum powder gift pack. I am sad to say it is very cloying and get up your nose stuff, which I dont like at all. I'll stick to the soap and have a squirt of Mugler's cologne or Dunhill Original instead.

On this lady this is so sexy.On others it could be considered simplistic and cloying. I'll try it on my wife. I think it needs a careful examination.

    Blend 30 by Alfred Dunhill

I return after some time away to say this stuff is still top notch power scent. You couldn't possibly wear it every day. I see the Safari comparison but this is smokier, pinier, greener. I may have just made up an adjective there!)

    Original Vetiver by Creed

For the money it should last longer. I agree it is a lovely restrained earthy soapy vetiver, the Guerlain seems a little drier and certainly outlasts it. I really like the Lanvin and that is the cheapest by a mile, bright lemony soapy grassy and lasts all day.
Returning to add Mugler cologne to the comparison and that is my favourite of them all

    Vetyver Lanvin (new) by Lanvin

Hello Back with a confession. I still, like this stuff but agree that there is little vetyver in this more like Lanvin original, sweet and inconsequential. Every day splash on I'm afraid

Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur by Pierre Cardin

I've tried very hard to like this but I just can't get it out of my head that the topnotes are like talc and the drydown like Harpic. Sorry!

    Mugler Cologne by Thierry Mugler

I notice that no-one has actually owned up to "creating" Angel for men. Mr Morillas is to be congratulated for this lovely "just got out of the bath" cologne. (Not shower, shower to me means haste and lemon/lime/vetiver) this is all about soap, sandalwood and steamy mirrors, shaving soap and taking your time. I think Mr Morillas has crossed Palmolive with Cusson's Imperial Leather. I like it.

    Eau d'Hermès by Hermès

When I am feeling a little contrary I wear this to work. It is definitely unisex but in context it says "I had it last night" even if you didn't. I am a man of definite heterosexual persuasion and this stuff gets all the girls wondering which way it hangs. Interesting.

    Silver Mountain Water by Creed

Very nice, (damning with faint praise?) blackberries, cream and currant bushes, wears close to the body, but does only last 5 hours on me.At this price it should last longer, or am I missing the point?

    Police (original) by Police

Currently eBay UK is awash with Police, original and I am very pleased I have got some.It is a slightly less mineralic version of Dunhill Xcentric, or a slightly more assertive version of Nicole Farhi for Men. It lasts well. Think rain on stones and blackcurrant bushes.

    Horizon by Guy Laroche

This is lovely stuff, the blue, wet, salty cobbles soaked in pine needles type thing. As it wears off you do get a "nice ice" aroma. Distinctly male.

    Eau d'Orange Verte by Hermès

As I said before It does what it says on the tin, Green oranges, big time fruit blast, clean, well washed male slightly earthy dry green citrus drydowm that nobody can dislike. Could prove attractive to a lot of l;adies!

Nicole Farhi Homme by Nicole Farhi

This smells like Lauren's Safari but with a touch of mint and much less of the pine disinfectant, a bit like mixing Safari and Paco Rabanne PH and missing the nose wrinkling bits. Understated stuff.

I return to say I still think it is an original fragrance, much less in your face than Issey Bleu. It reminds me of snow and mint in the woods and cold. It can if overapplied though become cloying, the longevity is outstanding. I've found I can't wear it every day though. Still wonderful stuff.

    Brut by Fabergé

There seem to be two kinds of review in this section, those about the "new" Brut and those about some different stuff from the sixties.
The squarish shouldered Brut bottle has come into my possession (you will notice I did not say I paid money for it) It definitely does not contain the same stuff as the 60's and 70's which was way more powerful than this.
The "real" Brut(e!) is still readily available as Brut Classic for about £3.
I still don't like either of them.
You do not however have separate headings for them in the Faberge section.

    Dunhill Pursuit by Alfred Dunhill

I'm struggling to say anything good, or bad about this. I just get peppery orange and am struggling to distinguish it from dunhill.
Why keep releasing new, nondescript products when they already have the GREAT Dunhill for Men,and never promote it?
Edition seems to sell well as does Desire.
Please bring back Blend 30, produce a decent citrus for the Eau Sauvage generation and leave it at that.

Marc Jacobs for Men by Marc Jacobs

Starts off like cucumber and watermelons
fades through figs to pine needles. Doesn't last more than half a day on me though

Nothing wrong with it but the original is loads better. It seems like someone put some cucumber in there and then watered it down.
