This fragrance is a real surprise. It starts as a nice opening of wood and some citrus, but then develops into a warm fragrance, with a wood-and-rose drydown that develops onto a sandalwood basenote with a vanilla that is beautifully balanced and never in the foreground. This makes Egoiste less sweet than, for instance, Creed's Royal Delight and much more wearable in daytime, although it is also a great evening scent. I prefer it in cooler climes and seasons. Good sillage with a great longevity of about ten hours. One of the great classic bold but balanced scents.
