    Nuit Etoilée by Annick Goutal

If you expect the "nuit" side is represented in here by heavy amber, dark patchouli and animalic notes, well, you are completely wrong. The noir temperament in this fragrance is summery (a summer of the northern lands), ethereal, silent and transcendent, a sort of dream hanging in the attenuated and phantasmagoric upcoming dawn clearance. The coniferous forest is close to the lake and the watery and woodsy whiffs merge magistrally in the motionless air. The juice is an extremely sharp and crisp work of balance appointed with citrus (mostly lemon and orange), watery fruits, woodsy aromatic effluviums from the woods (fir), mint-angelica (may be immortelle) and nocturnal flowers (with a sort of neroli/lily of the valley type of final vibe). The dry down is basically minty musk (white musk?) under my nose, a delicately musky and piney aroma with a shadowy orangy/floral silent trail. I smell this fragrance as a sort of more silent, sharp and unisex Joop Nightflight's natural counterpart. Around us, in front of the peaceful lake, the silence of the night is just interrupted by some far animal rattles and hums heralding the light. Faint longevity, at least on my skin, and natural type of aroma.
