I would say that the most prominent notes in Doux Amour are the jasmine, amber and vanilla with subtle patchouli. The scent is very warm and comforting but not really that animalic...I'd say slightly smoky for a bit. It's slightly gourmandish and there's some woody musk in the far dry down, but your nose has to be to your wrist to smell it. In my opinion, this has a kind of "Lutenesque" phase where it gets spicy and oriental and reminds me of Lutens at his best. The sillage: people won't smell you before you enter the room, but as they get within 2 to 3 feet of you they'll be asking you what you're wearing. It seems to fade and come back, ever so subtly for hours. A man could definitely wear this, and should.
