  • MUSE.

Not the band, sorry! A space to discuss the contexts behind the design of our favourite smellies, and to share those behind my own.

This includes intent of the perfumery (balance of art and commerce), intent of the perfume wearer (mental health, bodycare, social custom), social context (i.e. different perfume eras/regions), and the intersection with the other senses (music, synaesthesia).

Any friends who'd like to join are more than welcome :)

  • Fougerites

For fougere-lovers and those interested in fougeres.

Fougère, meaning "fern-like", is one of the main families into which modern perfumes are classified, with the name derived from the perfume Fougère Royale for Houbigant formulated by the perfumer Paul Parquet. The class of fragrances have the basic accord with a top-note of lavender and base-notes of oakmoss and coumarin. Aromatic fougère, a derivative of this class contain additional notes of spice and wood.

Members of the family are especially popular as fragrances for men.
