It occurred to me that there is no thread dedicated to gushing about recent vintage perfume finds, so I thought I'd start one. I just came back from Malmö, where I always have the most unreal vintage shopping luck.

    I bought three bottles of perfume;
    - Ma Griffe in EdC, probably dating from the 60's, judging from the bottle, cap and sticker. Not as green as I expected, but lovely all the same.
    - something called Shantung, which turned out to be part of a beauty series launched by Swedish soap manufacturer Barnängen in 1949. Here is a (huge) ad from the 50's. I haven't tried it properly yet, but prim floral oriental was the impression I got.
    - and a full bottle of Donna Karan Chaos. Not vintage, but used to be discontinued and I bought it at a fleamarket. I have half a bottle that I've been hoarding for years, now I have a lifetime supply.

Share your finds! What have you been buying lately?

I have an out of the way thrift shop. I've bought vintage Jolie Madame (maybe 50s, judging by the bottle?), Eau de Joy, and Revlon Intimate there. The Intimate has some bad notes at the top, but after they wear off, it's pure animalic heaven! Other finds: vintage Chloe, Azuree (wild 1970s bottle, very leathery), Cabochard (70s, very ambery), Knowing, K, Black Cashmere.

    I've been ebay scavenging:
No. 5 cologne spray (80s/early 90s?) in the black case. Lovely! I miss the old No. 5 edc from the 70s, but this is better than the current edt, imo.
Coty Emeraude pdt (70s/80s ?). Gorgeous! I can only imagine how great the original parfum must have been.
Coty L'Aimant flacon mist (70s/80s ?). Meh. It's actually nice, but probably doesn't age well. I can see the similarity to No. 5. I doubt I'll wear it.
Réplique by Raphael parfum mini. Awaiting arrival.
My de Myrurgia edt. I have no idea when this was produced. Bottle is marked Made in Barcelona. Awaiting arrival.

Won a Dior perfume on Ebay that I've never seen before," Lily". Reminds me of Dorissimo, but sweeter with more sillage and not as green. It was a blind buy and found it be a pleasant scent which I will use next Spring.

I picked up a bottle of Rochas Femme for 30 SEK yesterday - $5 or thereabouts. It's the 1989 Oliver Cresp reformulation, which I love, but in Parfum de Toilette and a ribbed, rectangular column of a bottle that I have never seen before. Early 90's or so, I think. Only about 15% of the fragrance remains, but it's lush, rich, gorgeous and very strong, more potent, fuller and rounder than the slightly more recent EdT that I also have.

Been stocking up on the Faberges: Woodhue, Tigress, Flambeau and a large bottle of Aphrodisia cologne "extraordinaire". Does anyone know if the "extraordinaire" designation means anything special?

I found a tiny bottle of Tigress Bath Perfume--never saw that one before! It is adorable; I'll see if I can post a link to a photo. Okay, try this link: http://tinyurl.com/2v5qh7d

Would someone please let me know if the link does NOT work? Thanks!

Also, recently acquired what is probably a quarter-ounce bottle of Hermes Equipage, in a box labeled "Not for Sale, Made in France, 90 [degree symbol], ref.113" but no other markings. Mmm--spicy.

I picked up two 15 ml purse sprays, about 12 ml of L'Air du Temps parfum and about 6 ml of Rochas Femme today. I paid 120 SEK for both, a little over 15$.

Not sure, but I'm guessing it's the 1989 reformulation of Femme - I think I detect a trace of cumin on the nozzle. I love the new Femme, but I would love to get hold of vintage Femme too, so either way I'm very pleased with it.

L'Air du Temps... I can't remember the last time I smelled this, certainly not since I became seriously interested in perfume, but I remember my mother talking about how lovely L'Air du Temps is - she does not and as far as I know never has worn it herself, I think it's one of those fragrances she admires and enjoys, even loves, but does not wear herself, like N5. Sniffing the mouth of the bottle now, it is intensely familiar and brings back a sense of childhood, longing and wistfulness. Someone wore this when I was a child, but I can't remember who. Maybe wearing it, later, will trigger more memories.

Vintage Chamade EDT and extrait, vintage Roger&Gallet Santal EDT and vintage Calèche parfum de toilette, extrait and body powder : ))
I also sampled something wonderful by Carven called Robe d'un Soir or something like that.

Half full 100ml bottle of Dior-Dior in EdT, a 30ml bottle of Eau Sauvage with about 40% left, both 70's or 80's judging by the bottles, and a 60ml splash bottle of Fracas EdT, about 60% left, which looks a little older, with carved bakelite cap. All three cost me in the neighbourhood of $25.

My finances have put a crimp in my buying, but I did buy some vintage Chanel No. 5 cologne on eBay not too long ago. If I had unlimited resources, then I would have some really good eBay scores, anyone here buy the Kadine/New Mown Hay/ Vetiver bottles? If so I am jealous (unless I can get a decant).

Found in my wardrobe an odl bottle of madame by carven from the 80s. Even if it seems in good condition it doesn' t smess much. Classic and chic but without personality. I wonder if it is different from how it was time ago.

I've been ebaying. Vintage Youth Dew in parfum, two different containers of uncertain age, a small bottle of 70's or 80's Miss Dior EdT, half empty, and, most glorious of all, a hu-u-uge bottle of vintage Bandit EdT, about three-fourths full.

Scored a bottle of vintage Evening in Paris on e-Bay. My mother wore this and the minute I smelled it I thought of her on Sunday morning getting dressed for church and putting on the Evening in Paris that was always on her dresser. Not sure I will wear this very often but sure do like smelling it. I can easily see why Evening in Paris was so popular when I smell this vintage bottle.

This is nothing like the re-issue you can buy at places like the Vermont Country Store.
