My husband & I are heading to Florence & Rome in two weeks I have started compiling a list of italian perfume lines to explore that I cannot sample in Ireland.

I am looking for recommendations based on my current wardrobe & advise on stores to visit to maximise exposure to fragrances & minimise walking for miles!

This is my list to explore so far - lorenzo villoresi (sandalo & musc), hilde solinai (want to sniff her entire range!), 10 corso como, eau d'italie (paestrum rose & sienne l'hiver), odori (tabacco), etro (sandalo), La via del Profumo - abdes salaam attars (santal de mysore).

I am also hoping to sample some other european niche scents, such as serge lutens (love my bottles of feminitie du bois & une bois vanille & I want to sample the rest of the range. I've tried the wax samples but its just not the same as sniffing the real thing) frederic malle, diptique & l'artisan. This trip should save me a fortune in perfumed court samples

So far I'm thinking I should visit:

    Florence:
    L'olfattorio, via tornabuoni 6,
    Erboristeria Inglese, via tornabuoni 19
    Elisir, borgo degli albizi 71r
    L'o Profumo, via pietrapiana 44r

    Rome:
    Profumum
    olfattorio bar a parfums

All help greatfully appreciated! I promise to update you all on my perfume travels in italy on my return! I can only afford to buy 2-3 perfumes, but plan to sample as many as possible......

In Rome you should definitely go to Campomarzio70 (it's really a mandatory visit), they have 3 shops where thay cover almost anything available in the niche market including limited editions, plus some exclusive lines from designers (i.e. Armani Privè). Make sure to visit them all as they carry different lines in each store.

    via di Campo Marzio 70
    tel. 06 69202123

    Piazza della Rotonda 70
    tel. 06 69202394

    Via Vittoria 52
    tel. 06 69797739

then, if you have time, give a chance to Laboratorio Olfattivo (italian excusivist by hte likes of Parfumerie Generale/Huitieme Art, Linari, Eau D'Italie)

    Via Cernaia 9 - 00044 - Frascati
    Tel +39 06 9426866

In Florence you already have some good places to visit but you shouldn't miss the chance to go to Officina Profumo Santa Maria Novella - Via della Scala 16 - 50123 and Farmacia SS Annunziata Via dei Servi, 80/R 50122 or the new shop they just opened at Via Maranini Giuseppe, 4 50127

    alfarom,

    Thank you for your help!

I visited as many of the stores as I could find in Florence and Rome (it was almost 40 degrees in Rome, so it took some motivation!).

In the end my favourite in Rome was Roma Store, Via Lungaretta (Trastevere) - I was allowed to sniff and sample to my heart's content without the sales assistant standing over me. I bought Tam Dao and Fumerie Turque. I recieved some nice Lorenzo Villoresi samples.

In Florence, my favourite was Farmacia SS Annunziata, Via Dei Servi 80/r Firenze. I didn't purchase anything, but Vaniglia del Madegascar is on my list for a further testing.

I didn't get to the store that stocks Comme des Garçons. Pity because I would have liked to try some more of their range.
