Will you re-install the Scent of the Day function or not?

This for me is the most imperative question to be answered. This function was vital to my enjoyment of basenotes, allowing me to track my fragrance habits via "number of wearings" in the wardrobe. Three years of diligent information gathering just disappeared overnight, & l'm heartbroken.

Please please please put the SOTD function back!

It's the same deal for me. I printed mine out twice a year so that no one would ever lose my posts, my record. The word "diligent" really hits home for me too, because I feel that I was diligent about it. It was kind of my diary.

So now I have nothing after the first week in January.

Can the powers that be bring back the old website just long enough for me to print out my sotd record?

Hi everyone, thanks for writing. There have been a lot of changes made and from what I can tell, this feature seems to be a popular point of Basenotes. We are working with Grant to possibly get this feature on the roadmap for Basenotes for the future. Keep in mind, this is a brand new feature that we would need to build specifically for Basenotes so it's not going to happen immediately since it will require his approval and input. Thanks to everyone for understanding!

Hi Wheatstraw2, thanks for writing. I would definitely love to grant your request but I'm afraid I do not have the authority nor is possible since the old site is now all data and not loaded for any users to visit. Intense resources and man-power would be needed and that is not a possibility. Sorry about that!

I was hoping that my question would be answered by someone with half a brain. Anyone else out there?

I would agree. This was one of the most fun parts of the old site. I would love for you to bring this back as well. Thanks!

I can't believe they've just done away with SOTD's. Not just SOTD's, but the wardrobe function as a whole it was THE USP of Basenotes for me.  Without the wardrobe, BN is just another forum.

Adding my SOTD had become a daily morning routine for a very long time & was a VERY useful feature.  I'm struggling to find ANY use for the current "list" feature in its place.

The old wardrobe function needs bringing back in as close a form as it used to be ASAP.  I can see my usage of the site dropping dramatically until that happens.  I'm amazed people thought nobody would care.

I apologize it's not the answer you're seeking but your remark does not help get the SOTD back. I'm going to be mindful that the changes of Basenotes is stressful and I'm hoping that other users on this site will be as understanding as possible about the entire ordeal. Thanks for being patient with us while we work out these issues.

There is clearly some serious frustration with what's occurred. Of course we should all be more patient and understanding as basenotes works through these issues. That said, this is certainly something that the site administrators and others familiar with basenotes and basenotes users should have been aware of before migrating the site. Just me .02.

The frustration comes from having no control over the situation that has been thrust upon us

Facilities and records I have had at my disposal and built upon for 7-1/2 years have been completely obliterated or so awkwardly altered as to give me pain--like I've been violated or stolen from. It feels as though a trust has been broken without warning.

I, like daverasi, don't understand how Grant thought we'd be content with so much loss.

Huddlersteph, I know you're trying to answer our tech questions, but you can't fix what's really bothering us.

Under lists there's an option to make a new list.  Couldn't we title it Scent of the Day and add daily?

I agree with the other posters. One day this was the best perfume websire on the net and the next it's dull at best. No pyramid, no scent of the day, nothing. I'll stop in now and again but u til thesethings are fixed I'm heading over to fragrantica.

SOTD and the high-quality wardrobe functionality is what made this a community. Otherwise, honestly, it's just a message board - and while there is nothing wrong with that, there are plenty of those out there.

I asked this in another thread and I'll ask it here: was the lack of this functionality and the difficulty of implementing it properly communicated to the owners of this site by Huddler?

Thank you. I take that as a pretty clear no, then. Grant did say in an earlier post that Basenotes would have to be "wedged" into the new platform, and wedged it is..
