I have not smelled the famous Corpse Flower but recently i took interest in it's smaller counterpart - Sauromatum (Aka Arum Cornutum - a plant related to Voodoo lily)). I have grown these plants last year and their smell was quite interesting. I was expecting rotten meat smell like in Stapelia plants but instead it was a ... hmm Horse dungish , leathery type of smell - like You would imagine Dzing! before you actually smell it. I think it would be a very good material to experiment.
This year the plants i have bought did not bloom - probably May was not enough to emulate "Spring in Himalaya" weather - oh well.
While looking for information about this plant i came across this site http://www.essences.com/recovery.html which offers something described as Sauromatum recovery Essence.
It's described as "This essence helps us wake up to notice the cobwebs, piles of dirty laundry, friendships in disrepair, unattended dreams which got circumvented by some trauma or traumas. It is made from a very stinky flower, and thereby we recogize the "stink" in our lives so we can clean it up and let in the fresh air! "
Looks like it's atleast something similar to Sauromatum essential oil and might be worth experimenting on but i had no reply from this store so i have no idea if the offer is up to date. Does anybody know if this company is legit?
*** Ok , nevermind. They don't sell it anymore nor function ***
