Acqua di Gio Real Versus Fake

Acqua di Gio Real Versus Fake

So I originally put this post in General Discussion but I think this is more suiting in Just Starting Out as I made this mistake when I was just starting out (which I kind of still am, but at about 20 bottles I feel at least a bit seasoned). I was scammed on a bottle of ADG from eBay and I wanted to make a Public Service Announcement about what signs to look to ID a fake bottle.

It will be informative for many in this thread too.

Great video, and should be so helpful too. Did you manage to get a refund?.
I wish I had done a video too of my fake Vs real Chanel allure homme sport.. But I bet quite a few people on here have been scammed over the years.
It looks like your copy was a very well done copy. Mine was a decent copy but had a couple more prominent pointers. But certainly not obvious enough to pick out on a couple of photos the seller provided.
The print on the fake was flat not slightly raised like my original was. On the top of the bottle there is a line that crosses which goes from corner to corner that was less flush to the bottle than the original. And the label and general appearance of the fake on the bottom of the bottle was not as flush as the original.
But it was the longevity of the smell that was the give away. Which unfortunately is something you can't differentiate until you've got it.
My seller had about 99% feedback, and had sold a few of these before and always got positive feedback. I can't believe that mine was the only fake.

Anyway I personally won't buy a designer fragrance of EBay again. Although I got a refund (the details of what I had to do are on another thread) I don't fancy going to them lengths again to get one. In order to save about 15.
    Lesson learned.

Thanks for the feedback. I have had success with some sellers on eBay, this was the first scam but I am glad you appreciated the video. I think everyone should make a video when they can compare the bottles - I think it is helpful for the whole community.
