I like the crisp sharp clean soapy vetiver in vetiver hombre very much.
Unfortunately the staying power is not very long on my skin.
Is there a similar fragrance?
The older version of vetiver hombre doesn't last. The newer version made by Puig does last and projects quite a bit better. I made a thread about the comparison's earlier this year. Most of the better vetiver fragrances I've tried have a toned down vetiver note. You can still smell it, but in all honesty I think if the vetiver note is too strong it makes it almost unwearable.
The only two that I'd recommend are TF Grey vetiver and Creed's Original Vetiver. Out of those two I think Original Vetiver is more like Vetiver Hombre, but like you said it's the soapy quality combined with all the other notes that make it unique. Since you can get a 4 oz bottle for under $40 right now I'd just buy a backup bottle and use more sprays and hit your clothes if you want it to project and last longer
