I have blind bought lots of times, as long as the purchase is less than $150.†
The only things I have blind bought so far that have not turned out so good are Yatagan (I will never come around to it) and Kouros (I can see liking this more as I wear it more). For†anything more than $150, I†have been able†to get in on a split (I'm just starting out†-- I am still checking out obvious ones where splits are readily available).
The little samples are next to†useless for me. With few exceptions (i.e. Yatagan) I have to wear something at least 5 times before I can form a meaningful opinion about it. Those samples aren't big enough for me. Plus, my tastes change constantly. I try to rotate what I wear and it's amazing how many times I say "Wow, this is 1000x better than what I remember from the last time I wore it".†As well, I don't seem to get the same experience using the tiny sprayers on the samples, as I do with the sprayers on a bottle.
As I get into more expensive and exclusive fragrances, I suspect I will sample more. For now though, I am thoroughly enjoying blind buying.
EDIT: And yeah - as noted in the posts below, it is†very exciting†to finally receive the package. The suspense leading up to the first spray is a blast. Pretty cheap thrills.†
