If you buy Aventus, make sure you DO buy it at a discount. There's no need to pay $315 for it when it's easily available for around $175. Or, better yet, maybe buy a decant and save even more. I liked the bottle enough that I bought one rather than a decant. Whatever you do, don't be fooled by the online hype. Aventus is great, but it hasn't been a huge compliment getter for me. Also, I find that it doesn't work well in cold weather, and it isn't the best in hot weather if you're going to be outdoors... but it's excellent in the in-betweens - especially spring.
Have you tried Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver?
I'd also recommend you get a sample of GIT. Personally, I don't think it smells like Cool Water, but when I wore a sample I had someone ask if it was CW... so, in a weird way, it's kind of like the best of both worlds. You get a great scent with real depth and complexity, but people who like stuff like Cool Water will enjoy it when you wear it.
