Sorry, I don't know where to post this, what happened to the website? And why can't I see ANY info on any perfume?? This is so upsetting.
Sorry you feel that way, it's faster now & doesn't seem to have crashed since it was altered.
You can find still find fragrances in the Fragrance Directory.
I think that the site will work better when finished, but there are Guides if you go to 'Articles - Info' - if you're confused to start with.

It's just not practical. You have to scroll to the bottom to find any info on the perfume, there are no images for the notes like on fragrantica for instance, I'm not saying it has to look like fragrantica, I'm just saying it's not easy to read or navigate at all.
I agree. I have been a basenoter for quite a while. It was my introduction to the perfume community. The fragrance directory no longer functions as a viable format (for me) to access reviews of perfumes written by members. It used to be the part of the website around which everything else orbited. It was an open forum for people to discuss their impressions of perfumes. I just tried to look up Dior Vetiver, which someone is offering for sale. I want to see people's impressions of it, positive/negative/neutral, the notes in it, trusted reviewers opinions of it. I was trying to search the directory for this information, and after a few minutes of trying to deal with the drop-down menus, I can't find it. I'm not an idiot, I know how to use a website. I don't appreciate the shifting of blame onto the users (who are the creators of the best material on the website and made it what it used to be) with "you just have to get used to it" and "you can find the information, you just have to look harder for it." It's poorly designed and either it needs to be re-designed or a lot of people will no longer be interested in using it or adding to it.
Blohan summed it up perfectly, honestly and succinctly, and no one has actually responded to her concerns. It's been three months now since the overhaul. I'm still waiting for a fragrance directory I can actually use.
Me too. I just love the efficiency of the new site . I only miss the Basenotes green but it actually doesn't bother me much at all .
True- it is proof that the new Basenotes works pretty well - I can find my way around with hardly any problems at all - I am no computer expert.*LOL*

blohan, many people feel the same as you. Take a look at all the threads on this in the Community forum, & if you wish you can add your voice to the many others there.

There are some benefits here. I can't explain exactly what because it's fairly nebulous.
The old site looked better, was more useful, had more flow, was generally more fun to play with...............

I'm new here, so I can't really comment on how the format compares to previous incarnations. However, I will say it is definitely pretty good in comparison to other forums I have used before, especially (as foughare says) in the mobile version.

I'm sorry but I do love the new Basenotes website. We have to look at the positives- it's fast, doesn't crash, reviews go up at once which is great. I am sure the directory will be fixed and when done, it will be very good. Patience !
