Let's throw a Basenotes bash. With disco balls and Devo. Cuz I said so.

Serously, though--where's the pizzaz around here?

    I share you sentiment.

It's been less than vivid the past period.

So, what should be done about it?   And when are you going to stop kvetching, and do it?

It may be boring but it's useful for non native English speakers grin.gif- bash, kvetch... pizzaz? Has it something to do with my country's national glory?!!!

    Basenotes is indeed boring.

I have been pondering this recently but I am not sure that my own vision of a more fun Basenotes would tie in with anybody else's ..

Perhaps it's what we make it.

Edit - posted same time as previous post so didn't see it.

It does seem a little calmer around here since the update unfortunately, plus there's like a 4:1 ratio of guests to members, people should join and post their thoughts! smile.gif

Seriously, though--it's come to the point where every thread must, by mandate, be centered on "melting," "sophistication," or "good citrus cologne for guy who hates his mother." At least the threads about urine and armpits are a good read.

Last time I remember that was 2009.

There are some great posters and reviewers, but most of the knowledge, real curiosity (and fun) left the building. Now it's Walmart.

It might possibly help matters if more members posted interesting and engaging threads.

A serious site about fragrance is all very well when there are posters who know their subject inside out and back to front. If they leave the site can still be worthwhile if there are people who can write with real flair and style. If they also stop posting you have a problem.
As you say, now it's Walmart.
