As it had been a while since I smelled it, I sprayed a little of Activist this morning to remind myself. It opens very harshly, and then moves into a slightly spicy territory (which is where it stays for some time). It seems as though it's trying to be a richer, more complex version of a fresh/clean scent while hanging onto its oriental status (its got a number of the chemical notes such as Citral that are found in many aquatic scents that makes me feel sick).
While I do find it to be the best of the line (which isn't saying much for their line), I think you'd need to have a passion for cheap orientals to appreciate this. There's another infamous cheapy called Lucky No. 6 that is an absolute chemical disaster -- this reminds me of a more piercing and shrill version of that. Root Beer smells better, to me -- but if the price is right, give it a spin.
The Body Shop has had a number of interesting oils in the past (their patchouli was somewhat noteworthy), but their EdT's leave a lot to be desired.
