Recommend me fragrances for high school

    Hey there,

I am pretty new to the fragrance world, but would really like to get involved. I first got interested a few weeks ago when I went to a big wedding and I noticed that some people smelled especially nice.

I have never worn a scent before, but I am looking for three that would be for going to school everyday, the summer time, and then to wear to a nice occasion like a dinner. Some background on me: I am going into my sophomore year of high school, my high school is a private, all boys school (although there is a girls school across the street) and we have to wear a collared shirt everyday, so a bit dressy.

Sorry if I sound stupid here, but I would prefer a scent that is "fresh" smelling. Nothing that specifically attracts the ladies if you know what I mean, but that wouldn't be bad if it didcool.gif. I don't have a budget for any of the fragrances.I really don't know what else to say about what I want because I am pretty newsmiley.gif.

If someone could recommend me a few to try out, that would be great. Thanks!

Guessing what each woman would like is impossible. As for wearing at school, remember that other people may perceive a frag more strongly than you do, so one has to go very light.

As for what to try, it depends on many things including price. Just to give some ideas, categories of fresh perfumes include:

Vetiver: my favorite, they smell fresh, slightly green and natural. Examples are Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, Guerlain Vetiver, Carven Vetiver.

Citrus: wonderful fresh top, but they tend to last a short time, and often the drydown is something else, not always pleasant. Examples: Terre d'hermes (perhaps the most used perfume among European youths), concentree d'oranges vertes, the Acqua di Parma line

Marine: I strongly dislike these, but they are very popular among young people. Main examples are Aqua di Gio and Eau d'Issey. Light Blue is peculiarly piercing.

Minty/herbal: Lush Dirty, Cartier Declaration, Dior homme sport.

Summertime: Versace Eau Fraiche or Mugler Cologne

Nice occasion like a dinner:D&G The One for Men or YSL L'Homme

Acqua Di Gio faint lemon lime, marine notes and some florals, women love it

Polo Blue, fresh, clean melon with hints of citrus

YSL l'homme ginger and spices and a bit of sweetness

Versache Eau Fraiche, lemon, starfruit for a tutti-fruity opening and sandlwood and musk in the drydown, very nice youthful scent

Inis the power of the sea, scent of ireland, great fresh marine cologne

Chanel Allure Homme sport - orange and citruses in the opening, slightly salty vanilla in the drydown, women love it, great for spring and summer

Chanel Bleu - grapefruit, incense, a bit of pink pepper and mint in the drydown , a unique aquatic

Hugo Boss bottled #6(for fall) sweet apples and cinnamon, like pie filling, with sweet vanilla

Chanel Allure for men (for fall) peaches, coconut and vanilla - it smells a bit different on everyone

Guerlain Homme - smells like a sweet mint mojito

A few already said Perry Ellis 360 is like ADG with cinnamon and $20

Channelling my high school self, I'd go with Bleu de Chanel for everyday use. Then something gourmand-ish for special occasions. I hate recommending A*Men, but it fits (the flankers work, too).

You can't go wrong with some of the cheaper fragrances.
4711 for school or summer time, or 212 for men

For a night out I would go with Cuba Prestige if it's something sweet you're looking for, as it's 1/3 the price of A men and many people can't tell the difference between the two (besides the price).

I'm considering your total price range to be under $100 for all three. IF that's the case, it should be 212 for men, cuba prestige, and maybe Dreamer by Versace or something.

    Prada Luna Rossa
    Dior Homme Sport
    Terre d'Hermes

Check those out. Fresh, summery, casual.

No budget... nice! You'll be able to get much better stuff than I had in HS lol!

Everyday - Acqua di Gio Essenza, Bleu de Chanel, Gucci Pour Homme II

Summer - Creed Virgin Island Water

Nice Occasions - YSL La Nuit, Spicebomb, maybe Dior Homme Intense (not sure if I would've liked this in HS)

Whatever gets you off and that's that, however it'd be much easier to say what frags NOT TO wear in high school. Some of those "don't wears" would be: Zino by Davidoff, Karl Lagerfeld Classic, Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, YSL Kouros, Azzaro Pour Homme and some other - wait for those when you pass 25 years.

Your money can go to better places then scents. You're either 15 or 16 and you go to an all boys school. Just get some Axe and call it a day. Revisit the subject when you graduate. You're only a kid once, trust me and use your money to have as much fun as possible while you can.

    Allure homme edition blanche
    Versace pour homme
    Versace eau fraiche
    Polo black
    Polo blue (sport)
    Ysl L'homme
    Lacoste essential

These are just a few but if I were you I would just sample around and see what you really like, then stick to one fragrance for now.

i hope your joking. if money is a problem, get yourself a bottle of Hanae Mori for $20 and call it a day. But just don't ever buy Axe/

Def try Nautica Voyage. I'm loving the hell out of it again this summer. An amazing scent for only 20 bucks. Also Perry Ellis 360 red. No sense in spending a lot of $ on a frag when you are not sure what you like yet.
