    Good, reliable and most importantly, legitimate places to buy fragrances online?

    I've always bought cologne from the mall, but a month or so ago I decided to try shopping online, because I noticed the prices were much, much cheaper.  I use Amazon.com quite a bit and decided to give it a go.

    I ended up getting two Kenneth Cole fragrances, (Bought and Sold by AMAZON.) Reaction, which I've owned three different bottles in the past seven years or so, and Black, which I've never even smelled before.  The KC Reaction is definitely not legitimate.  It looks legit, but the scent is off by quite a bit and it doesn't last very long at all.  I have an older bottle I bought from SEARS a couple years ago that I compared it with and was amazed by how legit it looks, but how off the scent was.  Amazon will not let me return these bottles, which is a shame.  I don't know if the Black is legit or not as I don't have any experience to base it off of.

    According to this other user review on Amazon the version I have is NOT legit:

    Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
    This review is from: Kenneth Cole Black By Kenneth Cole For Men. Eau De Toilette Spray 3.4 Ounces (Health and Beauty)
    My first review EVER: Literally just received this from UPS on 4/5/13 about 4:30PM PST.....I have owned K.C. Black for years and it is my favorite cologne, I only wear it once every month or two (for special times) to conserve it.....So anyway, I took a chance on purchasing this at $28.99 + tax because it was shipped from AMAZON, I figured well if they're shipping it, they're backing the product. I opened the package it was shipped in and removed the film from the cologne box, first thing I noticed was the box appeared to be a blueish tinge and NOT black (not an alarm because I've had the same bottle for years and don't remember what the box looked like). Anywho, I sprayed it and immediately noticed it smelled kiiiiiiiind of like the real thing but nowhere near the potency. I then grabbed my original Black cologne bottle and compared the two, below are the differences:

    1. the caps => Original - plastic with a tin-type shell
    *Knock off - complete plastic with an extra lip that requires more uumpf to close and open

    2. the lettering on the bottle => Original - the dash in front of the Kenneth Cole is 'bolder' and the "C" in Cole has a closed loop at the top
    *Knock off - the dash in front of the Kenneth Cole is 'slimmer' and the "C" in Cole has an open loop at the top

    3. The bottle & sticker on the bottom => Original- Distributed by Lancaster Paris New York NY (with Black - Kenneth Cole logo) and bottle "made in france" emblazoned
    *Knock off - Distributed by Coty Prestige (no logo and the bottom of bottle not emblazoned)

    4. the smell => Original - awesome
    *Knock off - eh after a few squirts

    All in all, the description if I remember correctly stated that the packing may vary from the actual product.....I took that as the real deal K.C. Black may come in a non box & could be a tester.....NOT that it would be imitation cologne & in an imitation bottle (maybe this is legit legal terms that are in a gray area)! Either way, disappointed in Amazon for shipping a product that they did not check first and WILL BE ALERTING the REAL KENNETH COLE COMPANY.

    Mine perfectly matches his description.  The lid being plastic and the bottom saying "Distributed by Coty Prestige" is what made me sure.

    So I got burned and lesson learned.  But my question is: Is there a good place to buy cologne online?  I ordered a sample of Creed Imperial Millesime from an Amazon user, it came in a small vial and had a creed.eu card with silver foiled writing.  It seems legit, but I'm not even sure if the fragrance is real.  I just want to know if I should stick to SEARS, Macy's, etc. and pay full price or if there really are some decent deals to be found online.  I noticed this site promotes fragrancenet, but I'm just curious what other users may have to say.  Thanks for reading this lengthy post, as it's my first post here.

    My only problem with Min NY is that they list things as being in stock, but haven't received them yet from the manufacturer. They should only say "pre-order" on these items, not "in stock"

    Thanks for all the replies.  I just reordered both Kenneth Cole's Black and Reaction from Fragrancenet with the 15% off code.  I also ordered some SpiceBomb (another blind buy.)  I'm excited to see how these turn out.

    Okay, so the Black and Reaction smell like the versions I got from Amazon. -.- I've also read that Fragrancenet is Amazons official supplier. I was starting to think they were fakes again, but I had another thought. It takes two, three, four or five days for these products to ship. The entire time the package is exposed to extremely high temperatures. 80-100 F. Could this degrade the cologne? Perhaps it's bad to buy cologne and perfume online during summer months?

    The Spice Bomb smells amazing, but again, it was another blind buy. I bought some Le Male and La Nuit De L'Homme while on vacation this week for full price at a mall. I've been trying to keep it cool in my hotel and car until I can get it home.
