Love that picture G!
Morning all. Well, sad news today. We lost our friend and companion, Old Mrs Tubbs, our eighteen year old cat. Actually she passed away last week but I didn't want to hog the news and then we had the lovely celebration of kitties at the end of the week, so I didn't want to say. She was a great wee thing, a real character. She was away her holidays when we were away ours. We were all back home for several days when she took ill and died, peacefully, at home.
She was called Tubbs in her younger days on account of the fact that when my SO got her, and her brother as tiny kittens she was very plump. She was always a very busy cat, a mouser (and birder, sorry), she did her patrols right up till the end, albeit with a bit of a wiggle because of her arthritis.
Please allow me tell you a story because she was famous for it. For many years we lived in a big old city flat with great big doors and a little vestibule between the storm doors and the flat door. My partner always kept a little stool in there because Tubbs could rap the letter box to get in. It was quite a big letter box and it was loud. She would jump up on the stool and hook it, always twice or three times and give it a good loud whack. We tricked lots of visitors. We would hear a good loud knock at the letterbox and ask "would you mind getting the door"? Folk would then answer the door to find nothing at the expected height and they might or might not see the black streak whizzing past at floor level. So they would either be really puzzled and say that there was no one there, or they would say "Did that cat just.....". She became well known for it.
In later times she became known as Old Mrs Tubbs. She loved the garden in the new house. She quickly established the best vantage point as her look out post. She is survived by her brother Dino, who needs a lot of love just now because he is looking for her and he can't find her. I don't have a photo that I can post electronically and anyway she didn't like having her photo taken so we will respect that.
Impossible Iris for me today. Take Care all.
