Hey basenoters, im a 15 year old from Sydney and I blind bought Individuel by Mont Blanc and it arrives in about a day or so. What can i expect, will it smell too mature on me, because i dont think my girlfriend will like if I smell like an old man.

Thanks guys, this is actually my first ever cologne/EDT purchased.

Edit: did i goof with the blind buy?

I blind bought it too and I really like it.  It smells a little sweet and also like fresh clothes u just got out of the dryer.  Definitely dont get the old man association with it. Smells fresh and clean. Sometimes I wear it to bed because it smells so nice.  Hope u enjoy it along with your girl.

Welcome to Basenotes, Dellrune. I think you made a good purchase. Individuel smells similar to (but not exactly like) Creed's Original Santal and, some say, Joop! Homme. Quite sweet but not cloyingly so, IMO. The important thing is that you like the smell.

You can expect a very nice scent that will surely get you recognized at 15.  Well done!

You're ok, OP, Individuel has a very nice, slightly sweet and clean scent. The GF will probably like it just fine, and it dresses up to wear in or out. One of my favorites amongst the designers.

Trivial fact: same perfumer did Cool Water, French Lover, Kouros and some other notables.

    Good choice. Enjoy!

I am thinking about adding this one to my collection as well. I already own and love Creed Original Santal but find it a little hard to wear at times as it is too strong for the heat. Is Individual a little more versatile than OS? I hear they are very similar to one another but I would think the designer would be a little more toned down. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You're right, Individuel is pretty subdued, it's very easy to wear for 3 seasons. Probably too light for Winter wear, but otherwise it serves most purposes.

Dude, you did great for a blind buy in my opinion! I blind bought it myself about a month ago, and enjoy it very much....plus ladies seem to enjoy it, so I'm sure your GF will like it just fine.:)

    You did good man!

What I found very useful is identifying some users in Basenotes that have similar tastes to yours, and remember them, and if a couple of them all recommend a fragrance then there is a good chance you'll like it too. This has helped me, and I am very lucky to have been satisfied with all my blind buys

    Good luck and welcome

I've done the same thing, I've been "lurking" for a couple of years and between reading what these guys say and sifting reviews I've finally gotten pretty lucky with stuff, I always just bought stuff, now I buy stuff with more info and more knowledge of scents so that even some cheapies turn out to be pretty good.  I also learned don't just buy what's popular (AF Fierce comes to mind) - it might smell good on others but my bottle sits forlorn and dejected on a back row I had bought it just because it smelled so good on one of my guys in class but it doesn't suit me at ALL and I gave it a good try, I used about 1/4 of the bottle, I might just give it to the guy it smelled so good on

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on it. I hear that it starts off very similar to Original Santal's dry down. As this is my favorite part of the fragrance, I hope its true.
