Norne is beastly, dark and resinous. Jeke is fairly beastly and rough around the edges, Sova and Ore are more warm, musky and enveloping. Pear + Olive is the one that's a bit different from the rest.
It is a very strong, very dry cocoa note. It's nothing like any fragrance I've smelled before, as cocoa is often used in a sweeter, more gourmandish way.
If cocoa is a no-no, I say Ore's a no-go.
I absolutely agree. Objectively-speaking, it's one of the best I've smelled from this category (gourmand). But me personally, I can't wear it. It contains oakwood CO2 though -- which is a material I'm absolutely obsessed with.
Lutens' Borneo 1834 is in the same vein, as are a several of the PG scents.
I think Grev's one of the best things he's done. I don't own anything else that has that kind of effect on me. It creates the aesthetic headspace of a mountain stream very convincingly.
