Has anyone tried the two men's fragrances in this line? I haven't seen any reviews for it or much of anything about the relaunches.
Based on a quick wearing of Scent 79, it smells very incense/leather heavy with the kind of woody smokiness of Encre Noire, but more violet. I like it, but don't think it's anything incredible.
I gave Pure a few sprays a while ago and for some reason it didn't seem like it projected at all on me. I went into a friend's car soon after and immediately she complimented my scent, so I guess projection issues are only to my nose. The notes breakdown for this one include mandarin orange and juniper as top notes, and bamboo and musk as heart notes, with sandalwood and vanilla on the base. I definitely get the orange and juniper in the opening, but there's something I can't recognize that is making it slightly woody. I guess that would have to be the bamboo. Not entirely sure. It's definitely citrusy, but has a warm woody quality that is quite calming.
Both of these scents are likeable, but Scent 79 is far more interesting of the pair. Both have great longevity on my skin (8+ hours).
I quite like them. Especially this one. Maybe I post this as my first review in here, why not? ;-)
Strangely the recent version of Scent 79 Man`s top notes remind of a small scale version of "Jules" with their sage and soapyness. As a clean and somewhat synthetic scent, it certainly lacks the deepness, the florals, the urinous accents and overall quality of the Dior but nevertheless comes as a big surprise within the recent mainstream. There are dry woods, a crisp little citrusy incense and a soapy musc along the road. After 2 to 5 hours of decent projection it settles down non-powdery as a beautiful skin scent with a slightly sweaty, bitter mossy backdrop that can also be found in recent (thinner) versions of aromatics like Azzaro pour Homme or Paco Rabanne. It leaves a nice whisper on clothes and applyed to hair. Pleasant little thing for a reasonable price (here in Germany).
