    Looking for Some Suggestions.

    Hi guys,

I'm currently in the process of trying and testing out samples, and I’m looking for recommendations based on what I like and don’t like. I definitely like a woody vibe in my fragrances, though I'm a bit unsure as to what accompanying flavor I prefer with that.

Here are the fragrances that have really stuck out the most to me, and a couple notes on each:
    • YSL M7. Amazing. Unfortunately a bit too heavy to wear all the time.
    • YSL L’Homme. Wish this was a bit more masculine, but it’s great for an everyday scent.
    • Dolce & Gabbana The One. Love the scent, but hate the sillage/longevity.
    • Creed Aventus. I find the top notes to be annoying and acrid, but love the heart notes and ambergris drydown.
    • Bvlgari Soir. Found this to be much more interesting than Silver Mountain Water. Perhaps it’s the papyrus. Didn't really like the bergamot.
    • Gucci Pour Homme II. I find this scent incredibly interesting. Love the tea, but I'm not sure if the spices (cinnamon, perhaps?) make me a bit nauseous in the heart notes.

I don't really like aquatics, or fragrances with much vanilla or vetiver. Scents that are too linear (Versace Man Eau Fraîche), too flowery (Amouage Reflection Man), salty (Millésime Impérial, smelled a bit of it in Aqva Marine as well), or with a lot of citrus (L’Eau D’Issey) are a bit of a turn-off, as well. I'd also prefer to smell a bit unique, and not like a department store (looking at you, Bleu de Chanel).

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Just ordered F Black Pour Homme, and Fahrenheit is currently on it's way from the last TPC order I placed.

I've already sampled D&G Pour Homme, I enjoyed the sillage and longevity but found the scent to be less exciting than The One. Perhaps I should try it again, I haven't really compared it to L'Homme just yet.

I've heard people compare F Black to La Nuit de L'Homme, Allure Homme, and Terre d'Hermes. I've sampled Allure Homme Sport, and Terre d'Hermes. I thought Allure Homme Sport was a nice scent, but didn't like the vanilla in the drydown. And I didn't really like Terre d'Hermes for the strong vetiver/orange scent. I have La Nuit de L'Homme, but I just haven't sampled it yet. Have any input, based on this?

I also happened to have purchased a sample of L'Instant a little while back, and am actually wearing that for the first time today, based on your suggestion. Really enjoying it so far, thanks!

Just added Noble Cedre to my cart. How strong is the vetiver in Noble Vetiver, would you say? I've tried out Guerlain Vetiver, Chanel Sycomore, and Terre D'Hermes and didn't find that I really enjoyed any of them. However, I did enjoy the drydown of L'Eau d'Issey, and later found out that vetiver is present in that.

I had been looking at Dsquared Potion earlier, but hadn't yet decided to buy a sample. Just put all three in the cart, thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions! Wearing L'Instant right now, and really enjoying it! I've heard that Oud Wood is quite similar to M7, do you find that to be the case?

Potion is a skin scent for me, it doesn't perform well both with sillage and longevity. Although it smells nice I let it go!
    I'm happy you enjoyed LIDG.
Another REALLY outstanding, unique and complete scent for me specially in warm weather s Loewe 7 Natural. I never introduce this great gem to my friends!!! I'm sure you'll like it.

    Just ordered a sample!

I also tried out D&G Pour Homme again today. I gained some more appreciation for it, but I'm still a bit unimpressed. I have been using a decant of the newest reformulation, however. Do you think it would be worth trying to some of the original, made in Italy, D&G Pour Homme?

YES. I walked away fro months after the newest formula. I then got a decant of vintage stuff and it has such nice tobacco..flowery...goodness! The current is sharp blast to my nose and induces headache.

Looks like that will be the next thing I have to pick up! Where did you end up ordering a decant, if you don't mind me asking?

I've placed a few orders at TPC in the past couple weeks, and I'm in the process of trying them all out. So I have a decant of La Nuit de L'Homme, but I haven't yet tried it out. I apologize for being unclear.

In regards to your suggestions, Frapin 1270, Fahrenheit, and Boss Bottled are on their way right now! Especially looking forward to 1270, I've heard that it's similar to The One, but of much higher quality. By Gucci Pour Homme I, you mean the fragrance from 2003, correct? Not the original GPH, from 1976?

I've actually already bought and worn a decant of Burberry London, but I found it a bit overwhelming. On my skin, the scent was comparable to that of a freshly-cut Christmas tree, which just didn't mesh too well with the super hot and humid weather we're having here. I will have to try it out again, when we get some cooler weather.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Went ahead and added the rest to my cart!
