I think it's also got a bit of a laundry musk vibe to it (smells kinda like dryer sheets). It's fairly simple and somewhat interesting and unique, but a bit too cloying/feminine for me, too. I find that Amouage Silver approaches the same theme but with more complexity and balance, and the sharper spices and especially the incense in that one help balance out the sweetness.
Nice! I have both Geir and Amouage Silver and never made the connection until you just mentioned it. They definitely have the same theme/vibe going on but the Silver is MUCH more complex with more depth.
The first few wearings of Geir brought overwhelming sweetness but with subsequent usage came more woods and something toned down. It lies close to the skin, thankfully and it lasts very well.
This was the darling of the forum for a short while a few years ago.
