    hey man ,new on here. check out the photos,found it floating in uk 7 yrs ago.thought id hit the jackpot.had the melting point and specific gravity checked-spot on ,right smell-tobacco,waxy granular build up ,smells lush wen ya heat it on oil burner,and a hoofin great imprint on the inside.grey on the outside gold within but iv been told by every perfumer and "expert" that its not and that its everything from limesstone,tallow ,treegum,fish oil,petroleum jelly .done me readin over last severn yrs so end of my wit now .had some scientists in italy trying to dna it even but alas not possible yet. any ideas? mike

    it's very well possible that is ambergris. do more tests on it.

    What's it smell like?

    What does it do if you place an amount that is powdered into 95% grain alcohol?

    Well...if you've checked out and tested everything and it all is verifiable,just rememberthe old saying: 'If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck'.

    Wow that is huge. Are pieces of ambergris usually that big?
