About to pull the trigger on a new frag; thoughts?

    Thanks in advance for reading.

38 year old here with minimal cologne fragrance/knowledge.

Have been wearing YSL L'Homme for about 7 years now and simply adore it.

That said, have grown a bit bored of it and it last maybe 2 hours on my skin.

So, I ordered a bunch of samples from Decant Shop (good prices and super fast shipping, fyi) and have narrowed my search down to Chanel Allure and L'Instant de Guerlain.

These two smell incredible to me.

The former is a bit more generic to my amateur nose, but still fresh and invigorating. Has a similar profile to L'Homme, which I like.

L'Instant does the same but I find it far more complex; it seems to change every couple of hours and has certain smells that I don't think I have ever smelled before.

So, what do you people think about these two?

Can you comment on both/either of their respective projections and longevity?

    Cheers!

Side note: the L'Instant seems to be fading from my skin rather quickly...

L'Instant is far better and you can get a big bottle at a great price on amazon. Dont buy Allure on ebay or amazon because Chanels on there are likely to be fake. Allure smells like boring V05 shampoo to me so I wouldnt recommend it to anyone though.

Not sure you are getting a real sense of the longevity of Linstant from a sample. It has a very rich base and lasts at least 8 hrs.

Yeah, im already bored of the Allure, a couple of hours in.

The L'Instant...i fear it might be too sweet for me. Maybe even a little feminine? I thought this was supposedly a very manly scent.

I prefer a more citrusy/fresh scent; this begins with some but it dies off quickly.

I think I need to give it a couple more days...

They're both very nice IMO but of the two, I'd go with L'Instant de Guerlain

    I love em both. Allure

LIDG is not really a fresh fragrance that you can wear in the summer to my nose.

    I d receommend these if you want fresh scents with minimal to no generic feeling notes;

Jardin sur le nil by Hermes

    Guerlain Vetiver

    Lubin le vetiver

    Lalique white pour homme

but yes LIDG is the better one here.

Imo LIDG is the better scent though the extreme version we abbreviate as LIDGE is amazing!

It's not sweet in a sickly or tooth aching way but a little bit sweet in a intense dry cocoa way. It all depends really if like cocoa. Just imagine L' instant with less citrus and the cocoa amped up to high heaven.

It's a fantastic scent that projects well and lasts on me anyway at least 12 hours!

    I really just love L'Homme.

if it lasted more than an hour or two on me, I wouldnt be looking elsewhere.

So still testing the LIDG...my only issue with it is that it seems to very quickly lose that initial citrus note, in favor of what appears to be a more and more sweet profile, as time goes on.

Do others share this same experience?
