Dear Dr Rudi,
I went last year and had a ball (mind you, there was champagne flowing...)
The sessions are run primarily by Lucy Settle, who works for Libertine (QLD based importers/suppliers of niche brands for Galerie de Parfum, plus DJs and various perfumeries in Melbourne). Lucy's been in the perfume industry for several decades and has a lot of knowledge/experience to share. She's a great person to know, and I always learn something new at her sessions.
Personally, I think the Myer sessions are more introductory than 'Master', and are ideal for
a) people who are fairly new to exploring perfume (with examples to sniff, we are walked through the different categories of the Michael Edwards Fragrance Wheel);
b) people like me who welcome any chance to network/gab about perfume in a group;
c) compulsive perfume buyers who appreciate every bit of 'value-added' (again, like me!)
So, not really value for an advanced perfumista (unless you're feeling particularly sociable and/or were planning to make a purchase from the range anyway).
Speaking of being sociable, if you're going to be in Melbourne for the first week of August perhaps you can come along to our Sniff-Together on the 4th!?
