    Recommendations for College student?

Hey guys, I'm new here and to the world of fragrances. I'm a 19 year old guy attending college and I was wondering what are some nice colognes I can get for attending class and going out to bars (separate or both). Some specific ones I have in mind are YSL la nuit de l'homme (I don't know the difference between la nuit and just regular l'homme), Gucci by Gucci (I've tried this on my wrist and I like the middle note), and I heard Terre d'Homme is good but a little pricey.

Would you recommend me getting the ones I stated, if so which and why and if not could you recommend me something I might like (manly and sexy, I tried Givenchy Pi and disliked every note). Please note that summer is ending and fall/winter is arriving so I guess if I had to buy one, it would be a fall/winter based cologne unless that isn't important as a beginner.

One last question is I live in Ontario, Canada and am unsure of the general price of each cologne since I am out of country so if you guys could give a general price of the cologne in North America, I can compare and maybe buy it at a duty free store at the airport (are they generally cheaper? I'm not sure in Asian countries). Thanks so much for giving me your time and helping me!

YSL La Nuit is a great one for the cooler months, although it would be a better night out scent. Terre D' Hermes is a great all-purpose scent, and you can wear it year round.

I would stay away from the Gucci scent you mentioned. If you want to go with the Gucci label, then track down a bottle of the discontinued Gucci Pour Homme I for fall/winter (will be a little pricey), and you could get a bottle of Gucci Pour Homme II for spring/summer (still available and reasonably priced).

Burberry London would also be quite nice, going into the fall/winter. You could wear that one for a daytime scent if you wanted.

Mont Blanc Legend - check Amazon...they have good discount prices. Like a more mature AF Fierce.

L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme EDT - pretty cheap...4.25oz bottle for like $70-$80. 2.5oz bottle can be had at an even cheaper price. Try Strawberry net.

I'm a noob myself, so take the below with the necessary grain of salt.

I recommend getting samples first. I'm not a proponent for the department store spray card testing. I find it lacks any true experience with a scent. You miss knowing how the chemicals react with your skin and how that changes throughout the duration of a day.

I also recommend against regular sample vials, they don't properly distribute or apply a fragrance. Instead, get spray vials, you can find them all over Amazon for almost anything current and/or popular, and for cheap. Or buy decanters with spray nozzles, think they're called atomizers, or something like that.

    Coming from a noob (me):

I really like La Nuit for a cooler, night out scent. It is spicier and deeper than L'Homme which I like. I myself am not a big fan of Gucci by Gucci.

If they have the fragrance you seek in tester form, Nordstrom has spray sample vials that are free for customers to fill and take home.
