Need help on my next purchase

Need help on my next purchase

I started a thread on colognes similar to DHI, which I absolutely love.

In that thread, I thought the way to go was getting an eau de parfum, as I like colognes that last forever. I was told that there are EdT that last long as well.

I'm ready to add to my collection, and I'm looking for suggestions.

    My current collection includes:

    - DHI (my first Eau De Parfum)

    - Gucci Guilty

    - Chanel Blue

    - Issey MiyakeL'Eau D'Issey Summer 2012

    - Dolce & Gabbana The One

Any suggestions on nice, long lasting colognes that would compliment my collection?

    Gucci Pour Homme II

L'Instant De Guerlain Pour Homme is a relatively inexpensive, wonderfully long lasting EDT that draws some similarities to Dior Homme Intense from what I've read, but different enough to have in the same collection. The extreme version of L'Instant is an EDP version of that fragrance that is a lot harder to find and more expensive. Although, I'd like to pick up a bottle of the extreme version, I'm finding no issues with LIDG and really enjoy its versatility.

    Others to consider:

    YSL La Nuit de L'homme

Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme (if you LOVE tonka)

Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche (If you like a lemon/citrus blast - done well though...no kitchen cleanser here)

    YSL L'homme

If you want something a little gourmand and long lasting, there's always A*men or one of its flankers. For something with a nice twist, there's Bulgari Black, with its rubber note.

    Bond no. 9 New Harrlem

    And of course Creed Aventus

I've found that Terre D'Hermes has very good longevity and is currently my favourite. I've also had/have most of your current collection.

I just came back from Sephora after generating a list from suggestions made above.

    - I liked YSL La Nuit, pretty good!

    - Gucci Pour Homme II also good, kind of soft though

    - I did not care forTerre D'Hermes, too "old-manish" for my tastes

    - I could not find L'Instant De Guerlain

For those of you that have used YSL La Nuit orL'Instant De Guerlain Pour Homme, which do you prefer, and why?

Bergamatto Marino. You can get online for about $30.00.

    How rude :-)

Out of interest did you try the EDT or EDP?

Haha, don't get me wrong. It was good, but not my cup of tea.

    I tried the EdP.

I'm starting to get into frags and I currently have:
    -Chanel Allure Homme Sport

    -Armani Code

    -D&G Pour Homme

    -Boss Bottled

    Looking to purchase:

    -YSL La Nuit L'Homme

    -D&G The One

-Angel Men...still have to try it

I was actually surprised by D&G Light Blue...I got to smell ADG and light blue and I immediately noticed I have smelled ADG somewhere sometime and light blue actually wasn't as bad/inferior as some people said...I felt like I enjoyed it and would like to wear it. But I"m looking for fall/winter frags now.

    Dior Homme Sport

    Mugler Pure Havane

    ADG Essenza

    Dsquared Potion

    Ck One Shock

    Mugler Cologne

I'd say that these are at least worthy sampling suggestions, and if their longevity is suitable and enough, also possible worthy future buys.

I think Spicebomb would fit well into your wardrobe.

You may also want to try the original Allure by Chanel. I don't like it myself, but it compliments your collection and meets your criteria....and there are a lot of guys who really like it.

    +1 D & G Pour Homme

    +1 La Nuit de L'Homme

If you found Terre d'Hermes too old mannish, chances are you're not going to love L'Instant de Guerlain either. It's on the mature side and in my experience it's also sort of weak. I think you're looking for something with a little punch, so I'd go with La Nuit over L'Instant.

If TdH was a bit old-manish for you I really don't think that you will like L'Instant. You should still sample it if you can to form your own impression. If you have a Saks Fifth Avenue nearby you can possibly find it there.
