Hi Derbyman! Even if I don`t know the old formula, I`m quite sure through your postings in the powerhouse group that you`ll enjoy this. I think a fan of old-school-masculines can`t really go wrong with this. When I purchased this, it was SUCH a refreshing experience. Never expected finding something quite like this that I didn`t know already. I use it as an alternative to Kouros, but it`s not too similar. But I enjoy it much more than the recent Kouros (which is still good) because the Marbert is much dirtyer, really raunchy. It lasts longer than modern Kouros, is really heavy on the herbs & the musk, it`s soapy, has some clove & moss & a leathery, slightly sour Yatagan-kind of drydown. Smelling it right this moment, it reminds me a lot of a stronger, less refined Hugo Boss No. 1. There`s even a Little Dior Jules coming to mind. It definitely is a powerhouse, somewhere on the edge between a chypre and a fougère. And, well, the ingredients might not be completely high-end - but no problem for me, for I find this charmingly rugged. I`d get some, it will be fun I guess.
