Fortunately, I own a bottle that I bought off Silentrich for pretty cheap about a year ago. It is indeed nice, on the gourmand side, but with a nice pink pepper note in the opening and some incense. Has a unique blend of woods and spices. It actually reminds me of an early day Spicebomb.
I remember back in, I believe 2006 when I first heard about this fragrance along with Vera Wang for Men. I was working in the men's fragrances at Macy's at the time, and both of these were selling big around the same time in 2006. Then Polo Double Black came out and took no namers from unpopular houses and threw them onto the discount shelves, unfortunately this is what happens in department stores.
It is a shame, because Valentino V is a pretty good scent indeed. And yes, expensive now and harder to find.
