Frederic Malle Candles

    Frederic Malle Candles

Has anyone had any experience with the Frederic Malle line of candles? I was at Barney's yesterday, and I was intrigued with the Chez Monsieur candle. I thought that this would be great for my home office/library, but I wasn't sure if it was worth the $95 price tag, when my local Yankee Candle store is offering a 2-for-1 coupon right now. I also like to support local businesses, and Gold Canyon Candle's Autumn Walk is also one of my favorites for fall ....(Gold Canyon Candles are produced locally here in Arizona).

In any event, does anyone who has purchased one of the FM candles think they are worth the hefty price tag (in terms of performance compared to Yankee or GC)?

If you don't detect a difference between Yankee Candle & Frederic Malle, you're better off with Yankee Candle.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Although I highly enjoyed the scent,I had a hard time justifying the price for the size.

    why not explore Diptyque candles?
they're cheaper than FM & excellent quality.

I've seen Diptyque around and about. Is there one that is particularly good or that your recommend? I know fragrance is subjective, but I like to have a starting off point.

I like most of them really. Particularly verveine, coriandere, eucalyptus & menthe verte.
I like the aromatic ones as you can see.

Why don't you walk in & see what appeals to you.

    The Malle candles are excellent.

Diptyque candles are very good indeed.  Some of my favourite candles include "Cuir" "Bois ciré" "Feu de Bois" and "Thé"

I've tried a few Malle candles (can't remember which ones they were bought by my other half) they are also very good.  The only thing is I have not been able to get out there and smell some that really interest me.

I'm wondering if I should just order blind?  May I ask if anyone has had experience with any of the following?  Cafe SocietyRussian Nights or Chez MonsieurIf not I may just order them and hope for the best. dankk2.gif

I did try the Chez Monsieur, Russian Nights, and several other candles at Barney's. From what I remembered, I loved CM...very warm and masculine. It was perfect for my home office this fall. I remember specifically wanting to sample the Russian Nights, but I can't remember it. I ended up buying two Yankee Candles (Mandarin Cranberry-- my wife's favorite and Pumpkin Wreath). I still have a 3/4 used Autumn Walk (Gold Canyon) and a Sugar Cookie (Gold Canyon) candle, so I think I'm good for the fall.

I can't wait for the winter, as I am almost certainly going to purchase the Frederic Malle's Joyeux Noel candle.

The Chez Monsieur is probably my favorite of the Malle candles. Just as you described it - warm and masculine.

Thank you both for replying I think I'll order Chez Monsieur now and if that's to my liking then I'll order the others. :)
