I am a fan of Bertrand Duchaufour so I can not hardly wait to sample this line.
What is your opinion on this line ?
Their website seems partly down, earlier i remember seeing their 2 / 10 ml's with prices, even those were quite expensive - the house might be worth the cost, once a few BN can provide feedback.
100ml's cost Euro 200 + shipping costs to N. America as well.
there are a few reviews of all 3 on fragrantica (+ Ashoka - to be released this yr)...
Hi...I posted this thread on BN awhile back which includes some links to reviews of the three fragrances by Kafka.
Since then, I received my 'discovery set' of three 10 ml of ea fragrance, though they also offer three 2 ml samples at a greatly reduced cost.
My favorite of the three was a surprise - Mohur - surprising because rose and oud aren't my favorite things, but I find it delightful and the use of real Mysore sandalwood makes it that much more enjoyable. (All the fragrances employ Mysore sandalwood to one degree or another.)
Trayee was also a delight - more complex with definite stages meant to represent the first 3 Vedas - for me the dry down was exceptional (again due to the sandalwood).
I had more difficulty with Bombay Bling - with it's ultra-realistic mango opening.
I believe they're moving their operations to Paris and preparing for the release of two more scents - Ashoka and a more intense version of Mohur.
Luckyscent also carries the current line-up.
Well worth checking out all three (soon all five) fragrances - all the ingredients are IMO top notch.
You might also be interested in the new Kafka review of Bertrand Duchaufour's Vaara for Penhaligon's which seems to utilize similar notes from Mohur in part for this release.
Trayee is exceptional and breath taking, dont let the crappy bottle fool you. Its one of the triumphs of the fragrance world, which is rare in this age.
Mohur is very good
I didnt bother with Bombay Bling , because I dont like fruity smells.
Trayee and Mohur are what Tom Ford's PB line should have been like.
I own Mohur and Trayee and have tried Bombay Bling (actually wore the sample last night)
Do not let the number of fragrances he's created in the last few years fool you, these prove that he's still on top of his game. I flip flop on Mohur or Trayee as my favorite of the line...but they are both AMAZING.
The bottles aren't crappy, but the weird atomizer they come with sure is...it looks unnatural and I have just decanted some into an atomizer for use rather than bothering with that.
Possibly Vaara as well...perhaps his purges are becoming more frequent?
