Chanel Sycomore Box, w/ Chanel No. 18 inside from Saks

I am new to the fragrance game, and in my recent searches I've learned about Chanel Sycomore. The Saks Fifth Avenue in my town had a box, and having read about it for 3 days I was excited to go pick up a large 6.x bottle of the stuff! Actually, I was excited, this was going to be THE fragrance for the year! So after hemming and hawing, and repeated visits and much help, I purchased Chanel Sycomore. What a beautiful product it was, loved the simplicity of the packaging and the bottle. Sprayed my arm, and what a surprise! Is THIS what a vetiver smells like?! I had no idea! Well, Miss Saks employee, why does it say No. 18 above? Is Sycomore a No. 18? Nope, wrong insides. They put the wrong bottle in the box (it was sealed in the plastic straight from whatever distributor they use)

Needless to say I was disappointed, though not in Saks at all, they were fantastic and humored me through all my insanity when it comes to finding a new scent. They promptly refunded my money, and then attempted to order it for me. After a few other issues (don't want it ordered to my house, and some other things) I decided I'd just go into New York and see for myself what the scent is like and purchase there. The VERY nice women at Saks informed me this wasn't the first time this has happened with Chanel. The moral of the story is not to get too excited lest the bottle is in your hand and says xxxxxx awesome cologne. Thanks for listening!

Yes - I love Saks - always a pleasure! Love Chanel, too, but never had a switcheroo like that!

BTW - I really like no. 18. Great fragrance, but very different from my normal stuff!!!

Wow.. what a really whacky story indeed ! How on earth did Chanel get it mixed up ?? And not the first time either... weird !

Saks is very good with customer service especially on the phone.

When I say "this isn't the first time", it was actually another woman working who said it had happened ONE other time with her, and I believe it was the exclusive line as well but wasn't clear on that. Can't guess why it would happen with line of product, perhaps its packaged by hand and therefore subject to mistakes?

Like I said, I'm new and thought maybe chanel numbers all their colognes, it wasn't until the both of us were checking online for photos of the bottle did we realize No. 18 was indeed one of their other exclusives.

@Hednic- Yeah, totally professional, she was great!

@Redneck- Oh, I loved it too! But not what I was expecting nor looking for. Do you find it's masculine enough? I felt it wasn't, but still very nice
