Scent of the Day feature to return imminently

We are pleased to (finally) announce the imminent arrival of Scent of the Day (SOTD)! It's not onsite yet (when it is, you will see a Scent of the Day link in the menu bar above). The reason I'm announcing it now, is that Huddler have informed me it *should* be launching in the pm local to their time zone -- which is likely to be when I'm asleep!

Those of you who remember and used the feature on the previous site will be pleased to know that it works in practically the same way, but with additional features.

    Here's how it works...

You can add your Scent of the Day either by going to its page in the directory and clicking the 'Add as Scent of the Day' button below the image of the fragrance:

Once you have added the fragrance, you can then add a comment, automatically add to your 'tried' list, and choose to share to Facebook and/or Twitter.

Another way of adding your SOTD is to select the Scent of the Day menu button above, which will lead you to the main SOTD page.

From here, you can directly search the directory for your scent and add it straight from the page. See here:

The information about SOTD also features on people's profiles and on the directory pages of the site.

Those of you who have been using the "Guerilla SOTD" feature, your info is safe and will be integrated at some point in the future!

    Happy Sniffing!

We just pushed the code live on the site about 30 minutes ago. I see that people are already using it! Really excited to finally see this live! Huge thanks to our engineers for their work on this feature and looking forward to the community feedback!

    Cheers!

It's great to see this launched!!

I'm becoming redundant here but considering this area is seen by a larger audience than where I mentioned it previously I'm bringing up for the final time:

When I added my SOTD just now I also tried to add it to a list. The drop down for Add To List kept popping back up before I could select anything though. Also, I'd prefer the options to add my SOTD to other social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc) not be pre-checked by default. My view regarding this is admittedly biased though as I seldom use Facebook or Twitter. Others may feel differently and I understand the need to encourage getting the site discussed on social media as much as possible.

    I'll go and look, socalwoman.

Edit - seems that there's a choice of where to post to, although there isn't a default option that I could see.

I didn't have problems with the drop down bit - it changed from Tried to Sample o.k.

By default, the boxes are pre-ticked to post to Twitter and Facebook. The poster needs to untick them first to avoid pop-ups appearing on the screen that lead to those social sites.

The Add To dropdown may be buggy only for me.

Re: social sites, I agree. I prefer boxes unticked. Or at least give the user an option to uncheck them in the Preferences.

Re: Dropdown, you're not alone. The highlight bar keeps going up and down, like it is on some caffeine or something. (Using Google Chrome)

Ah, sorry, may be the browser in respect of the dropdown as it's fine for me in Safari.

Firefox usually works, if you have it.

I'd prefer not to untick the boxes too as I don't intend to use them either.
