Hi guys. I'm torn between these two fragrances. to those who already have sampled these, which do you think is well worth-owning? or at least, which would you buy first?

    Oud Ispahan IMO.

For me, POAL. I liked OI, but find that I do not wear it much, whereas POAL is a staple of mine.

    Welcome!

To me, both are excellent and both worth having.  I bought PoaL when it came out and I have oud ispahan, which came out later, on my to-buy list.

To me, they feel different. Rose Ispahan is a smoother, more traditionally (in the middle eastern sense) oud-rose combination, supersmooth, slightly sweet, with the resinous, mineral, and woody aspects of oud in evidence.

So it's smooth, but rich and more exotic (to western noses at least).

In constrast, I see PoaL as a modern powerhouse. It's a rose with lifted by a potent woody amber, similar (but much better) than many modern masculines. Extremely radiant. So in the end I think it's whether you want something more modern-masculine, or smoother and sweeter.

Both are excellent, but IMO there's something really special about POAL. If I were buying just one, it would be POAL.

Also, I agree completely with cacio's descriptions above.

POAL for me; however, I've tried OI only once sometime last yr, so my recollection of it is very vague...

Two different takes on the rose. OI has oud/rose combo going on. POAL is a rich modern rose scent. Both great, so it really depends what sort of rose vibe you are going for.

They are both very different. Oud Ispahan is a rose and animalic oud. POAL is more of a rose and patchouli scent. Both are nice but prefer OI. Black Aoud is very similar to POAL and can be purchased at 1/3 the price.

BlackAOUD is similar to POAL? sure? i am really new to this and still need to buy POAL but your opinion is somewhat really different than i am reading all online..Poal even have AOUD?

Yes they are similar , but POAL is more well composed and more close to the skin.Black Aoud (vintage ) projects and lasts much longer.

    My experiences differ from vinramani09's.

To my nose, Black Aoud and Portrait of a Lady are very different. I much prefer the latter, which complements the rose with incense and berries and a big dose of patchouli.

Also, as Cacio pointed out, PoaL has fantastic longevity and radiance.

Same here. The only part of these two that I find in common is the Rose, other than that, I do not find them alike at all.

They're both very good but very different.

PoaL is one part rose, one part incense & one part patchouli.

Oud Ispahan is rose & oud wood. Not oud oil.
For those of you familiar with Leather Oud:
Retract the animalic note & the leather note in Leather Oud and add rose. That's Oud Ispahan. Very much full bottle worthy.

For me PoaL is the real standout. It is beautiful and really lasts for a very long time.
