    pencil-y fragrance

I am on the hunt for pencil-y fragrance.

i was in a perfumania and mentioned this to the guy at the counter and he pulled out GPH I and sprayed on a card telling me it was discontinued. I loved it. I have since bought a small bottle of ebay but it's sweeter (almost a little cola-y) than I'd like.

I've picked up a handful of other fragrances, blindbuy's and samples, and they just aren't hitting exactly what I'm looking for, maybe I can't describe it correctly but i really want like if you sniffed the penciel shavings from a sharpener.

things i've tried that just aren't getting it done, i love most of these, but they're not as dry i think as I'd like:

GPH 1 - almost it, but a littley cola syrup-y that kinda makes it annoying close miss to what I'm looking for

carbone de balmain- very nice, definitely has that pencil in it but too fruity

montana graphite - ok, but weird wood sweetness I don't find appealing

moonshine - a little sawdusty and too peppery

cdg man 2 - close to gph 1, i think closer to the sent i'm looking for, but almost smells like BO at points

anyone got any other ideas to take a shot at? I mean i've googled around and read the "smells like a pencil" which lead me to a lot of these, but u want smells like only pencil shavings.

Xerjoff Modoc. The best value for a sample is at Parfums Raffy.

Sorry. Wasn't careful enough reading your post. I'll suggest one more that sort of has the vibe you're looking for: Ararat by Parfumerie Naturelle, but might be a tad too sweet for your liking.

ie cedar? not the rubber part I presume...

Hmmm, Gucci PH1 is generally what people recommend. Maybe look for cedar heavy fragrances like Le Labo Rose 31 or Diptyque Tam Dao (sandlewood too), or Creed Spice&Wood (actually that's a good one for you). Also look for incense notes, so try CdG Wonderwood or Incense series Avignon

for the woody rubber side, try one of the CdG wood series, I think Palisander, maybe I'm thinking of Seqoia

Someone else who likes that pencil shavings smell. I once described my perfect scent as bass rosin, pencil shavings, and stubbed out cigar.

Weil's Kipling, long discontinued, is pencil-y to my nose. Latest ebay offerings are pricey at > $100.

Agree. This is the most pencil-y frag I know.

Wow! I have a large full spray bottle of this in my collection. Never imagined this could be demanding that high a price.

Artek Standard by Comme des Garcons smells the most like pencial shavings to me.

Whether you get along with the notes other than the woody/pencil notes is another matter.

Le Labo's Vetiver offering is just pure pencil shavings to my nose.

Also Diptyque's Tam Dao is very much pencil shavings as well.
