huh, funny that. I worked as a SA at the equivalent type of store, and actually DID recommend for some people to do exactly that, spray knees and stomach, but only for one purpose. Either someone said that everyone else could always smell their fragrance but they couldn't, so I suggested it might be a matter of olifactory fatigue, and they should spray like that so that they might get wafts of the smell instead of just a big dose and then tuning it out. Could also be a way to test if it had really bad longevity or was also just fatigue. The other reason I sometimes suggested that method was when someone said their scent was just way too strong. I would tell them that putting just one small spray on their stomach (under shirt, not as much heat), and behind knees (warm, but exposed and also far from anyone's nose), they might be able to get just enough of the scent without getting overwhelmed.
Don't knock it till you've tried it! It works really well!
I always spray fragrance at the back of the knees when wearing a skirt (most days) or shorts - sillage & longevity is great there as the skin gets warm when you sit, and the scent is "released" each time you stand up. It's especially good when wearing powerhouse fragrances such as Black Aoud as it keeps the fragrance low & it doesn't become stifling.
Try it! :)
