Congrats on the purchase, indeed it's a great scent, but sounds like a case of confirmation bias. Also, I don't think the hype train is nearly as much on the vintage Dior Homme vs vintage Dior Homme Intense.
I think the reformulation was much later. 2010? I own a "vintage" and current formulation of Dior Homme. Both smell quite wonderful, there are a few subtle differences between the two. The main difference is the iris note. Plenty of batch threads here you can dig through to read opinions.
I too have 2007 bottle and really love it. It's actually the only frag that I ran through 2 plus bottles since 2007. (I was lucky enough to buy few bottles from a flea market back in 2007 for $20 bucks a piece)
This afternoon I wore the recent 2012 version of Dior Homme which is really good. This evening, I'm wearing juice from a 2010 bottle. Wow, there's a huge difference between the two. The 2010 is a lot smoother, a lot sweeter and a lot more like Dior Homme Intense to be honest. I would say that the 2010 bottle of Dior Homme beats my vintage bottle of Dior Homme Intense even. Mostly because I enjoy the smoother iris and strong iris/cocoa combination that's so strong on top. Really wonderful stuff.
