Wanna List Fragrances I Like and Need Some Suggestions

I absolutely love smells and with all the fragrances in the world, I understand Ive not even scratched the surface of the cologne world. I guess to start off Ill give you my age and some smells I really like. Then perhaps someone could chime in and give me some other names I may want to check out. Another thing I really like is being unique. I dont want a "played out" cologne that everyone has (Acqua Di Gio).

Dont wanna spend more than $150.00

Im almost 27 and heres some colognes I really like:

    1. Chanel Sport
    2. Acqua Di Gio ( Even though its played out it does smell good)
    3. Ralph Lauren Polo Black
    4. Lucky
    5. Burberry
    6. Abercrombie & Fitch

I dont wanna smell generic or like an older man.

Smells I dont want or dont care for:

    1. Obsession
    2. Eternity
    3. Chrome
    4. Curve
    5. Ralph Lauren Polo (Blue Bottle)
    6. Nautica
    7. Hugo Boss
    8. Bvlgari Aqua
    9. Cool Water

... And thats all I can think of off the top of my head.

Thanks for any and all replies

These smells don't seem to be in the list of smells you like or don't like so maybe...

If you like the smell of incense maybe Full Incense by Montale
If you like the smell of oud maybe Oud Malaki by Chopard

My problem is I dont know base smells. When you say "incense" nothing comes to my nostrils lol Ive smelled incense before, but isnt there different types or smells of incense?

Again, idk what 'oud' smells like. :(

I guess a better way of explaining it would be that I dont even know what it is about the smells I like or dont like that makes me like them or dislike them.

How would you describe some of the smells I said I like? What do they have in common, if anything?

Same goes for smells I dont like? What do they have in common, if anything?

I'll let other Basenoters with better noses chime in with their takes on commonalities among smells you like and dislike. By the way, Welcome to you!

Will you be ordering samples online, or going to a place like Macys to try stuff. It's kind of difficult for ppl to guess at what you may or may not like. Your best bet is to sample a lot of things to get a feel for your own tastes. Personally, i have a liking for gourmands/sweeter fragrances. Like Dior Homme Intense, A- Men and their Pure line, Midnight in Paris, One Million, CK One Shock. Sample a few of these and you will know if you like em' sweet.

Agree with this. Sample everything that sounds interesting. And to piggy-back timmy's recommendations for sweeter scents, try L'Occitane Eau des Baux and MPG Ambre Precieux. For hednic's incense recommendation I agree with Full Incense and might also suggest some different styles of incense in Comme de Garcons Ouarzazate and Jaisalmer. Maybe also try Tauer Perfumes L'Air du Desert Marocain.

Get Creed Aventus. Yeah its hyped. Yeah its popular on basenotes. Deserves every bit of it. Even though its a rockstar in the Fragcom, I had never smelled it on anyone before purchasing it, so you will be distinctive.
