*nostalgia should stand here for old (at least 50 years) brands or fragrances either in continuous production or relaunched recently. Not talking about vintage, but bottles you can buy now as new.

I came across several relaunched brands recently (Oriza L Legrand, J.F. Schwarzlose Berlin, Grossmith) that I find fascinating. Add to this some of Penhaligon’s or Floris’ reissues, Knize 10, Farina, 4711, Aqua Di Parma Colonia, and I have just realised that nearly half of my collection is ‘nostalgic’.

Some of these are easily wearable (Blenheim Bouquet, Aqua Di Parma Colonia, Roger & Gallet Jean Marie Farina Extra Vieille), others are more challenging, but incredibly pleasing (Grossmith’s Phul-Nana or Hasu-no-Hana, which is my favourite at the moment) or nearly impossible to wear (Hammam Bouquet).

I wonder how close these are to the original. But I also wonder why these nostalgia scents are so popular.

What’s your favourite nostalgia fragrance and why?
