Hoping that other members have some good stories (preferably reasonably politeones, please!).

    To start:-

One of my grand-mothers apparently used to tell this tale.

There was a little prince whonever spoke.

His parents, understandably, were quite upset and became more worried as the years passed - how could he possibly rule if he didn't speak?

One day, when he was about five years old and everyone had just been served some soup, the little prince suddenly said"Why is there no salt in my soup?"

Quite startled, the King asked the little prince"In all of these years, you have never spoken before, my son - what has madeyou speaknow?"

The little prince looked surprised and said "I never spoke before because there was nothing to say".

    Ha! Good anecdote.

    Thanks for sharing.

Here's the tale of a guy who's generally in misfortune but is smart enough to get out of trouble.
One day he was very hungry & smelled the delicious smell of bbq. So he goes to buy some but didn't have enough money. So he buys bread & eats it while smelling the bbq. The cook notices & angrily demand he pay for enjoying the smell of the bbq with his bread.
He then jingles a few coins to the cook & says, did you hear?
    Yes says the cook.
Good, I've just paid you he replies.
