I hope i am not hijacking the thread...
Being S.Indian and having grown watching my g.mother / mother use all of these spices & with huge interest to cook food - turmeric, curry leaves, ginger etc - I can say that none smell similar. As well, I would definitely not to smell like the first 2, unless they are in the food I eat. Turmeric in moderation is great and I use it in everyday cooking. Curry leaf is much more stronger flavor and it's more of a garnish for traditional foods (along with asofoetida, which has an extremely strong smell but DOES NOT smell fetid, check more details from this link, again it does not smell fetid, it's just an extreme smell that most people are not used to - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asafoetida ).
We use these 2 together in many dishes, again in moderation, which are very traditional and not seen in almost any restaurant selling Indian food, in either Europe or N. America, but S. Indians use this everyday.
Ginger is grt, in food and okay in fragrances also. We also use turmeric root for religious festivals. Another related spice, which most wouldn't hear about is Mango ginger - it's got an amazing list of health cures. We just dice it and add lime juice, salt and pepper; keep shaking from time to time and leave it in the fridge, will last a month or so.
These fragrances from the link below are supposed to contain Turmeric, none of which I own (glad that i don't):
